Without a doubt Wright is the "wright" man for the job.
Don't look now but.....
Wright - .329/.420/.553 - .405 wOBA, 160 wRC+
Freese - .318/.385/.512 - .385 wOBA, 146 wRC+
Clearly it's still Wright, but Freese is hitting better than even I expected.
He has been a top 15 hitter in the NL this year, and that's surprising.
Wright is still the 'wright' choice, but Freese isn't that far off from him. Especially with his awesome July - .458/.562/.625 - .511 wOBA, 231 wRC+
To those that do not know mathematics it is difficult to get across a feeling as to the beauty, the deepest beauty of baseball. If you want to learn about baseball, to appreciate baseball, it is necessary to understand the language she speaks.
Freese will cool down eventually and Wright has hit a slight bump in the road.
Wright's numbers have gotten a boost after tonight though:
Wright - .333/.424/.557 with a .410 wOBA and 163 wRC+
Freese - .316/.383/.510 with a .383 wOBA and 144 wRC+
Hey, how about this?

Wright is still up on Freese by over 3 WAR this year after today where he went 2 for 4 with a HR. Including defense and baserunning, Wright still topped Freese in WAR from May 15th-now. Wright was at 2.8 or 2.9 when this thread was created to Freese's 1.3, and now he's up ~7.4 to 4.3, so he put up about 1.5 more wins in that time frame. Your winner is still David Wright.

Yup, Wright is still superior and likely will continue to be. I'm sure he going to end the last 6 games on a tear.
It is honestly not close.
At the time the thread was created, sure an argument could be made.
Now, it is just silly to compare the two for this year.

Because you are choosing to drop off wrights best streak of the year. Ignoring Feilding, The stadiums they play in and the people batting in front of them, and behind them. You are also ignoring the fact that there is not likely to be one single solitary gm who would prefer freeze to wright if they made the same dough. Freeze is good... No doubt, he's just not as good as wright. And it s obvious. I'm not sayin wright is light years ahead of freeze, but it's still obvious.

Freese has out-hit Wright since this thread was created, and that is exactly what this thread is asking.
