I'm trying to condition myself to use a hook grip. **** hurts
"Last year, we earned respect, but this year we want fear. We want quarterbacks to fear us, and we want offensive lines to fear us." --Ndamokung Suh
A double overhand, non-hook grip will generally result in grip inhibiting people from using heavy weight. That is unless you have a strong *** grip.
I used to have a sick grip until I ripped all the skin off the palms of my hands deadlifting and tore the ligament in my thumb. Now it sucks and I use straps for everything.
Why'd your trainer recommend you change from a mixed grip to double overhand?
I like the mixed grip, i doubt ill ever change it
Limitations are for people that have them, and excuses are for people that need them.
I prefer mixed as well but I hate going left over/right under - always go right over/left under
I gotta work on switching it up more.
I've seen there is risk of bicep injury going mixed. Is this a myth or something?
I go double overhand but my grip is awful. I have to strap up for anything over like 250 for more than 1 rep. Doesn't bother me though, not like I'm thinking of competing, just want to pull as much as possible (which is a tiny amount to begin with)

When I recently did a pr in deads I used double overhand. But when I recently did rack pulls I did the hook grip. I switch it up time after time
Is this a good safe way to DL?
..wait thats not how you're supposed to deadlift?

No myth. No myth at all.
At a heavy pull you need to have great form and completely relax your arms while having pretty much tight everything else and a strong *** grip on the bar.
No definitely not. Very bad
This is how you deadlift: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20Oc655_-0I&t=0m49s
That isn't possible doing double overhand right? The bicep tear was a direct result of going mixed? That is scary **** the one guy said it kept him out for 4 months in the comments.
lol I've seen that video. Amazingly awful attempt by that guy.
Don't know much about crossfit but it sure seems to get mocked a lot everywhere
