At first I was pissed at Reilly draft but now I'm kinda liking it. We all know Burke has a hard on for WHL D men so I guess we should have seen this one coming. But the kid could be a star in a few years. Does amazing things with the puck. Possible we have Schultz, Reilly, Gardiner in the top four in a few years putting up more points than our second line lol. I am extremely happy with picking Finn at 35 and the fact that the kid is a major Leafs fan to begin with. 4 Canadians and 2 from TO area. Awesome. Finn was projected to go between 15-21 in the first so at 35 you can't really complain. And if Reilly comes anywhere close to his comparison in Karlsson, wow. The D is pretty much set in TO for the next decade if these guys live up to expectations. Reilly, Gardiner, Finn, Blacker, Percy, Holzer, and possibly Schultz. Not bad at all.

I am jealous of the Habs draft though. Getting Gally, Thrower and Collberg. 3 great picks. Also, Ottawa got a steal for Maidens in the 3rd round.

Thanks Tips. That's why I put the word "possible" in each sentence that I mentioned him in...

LMAO did anyone else hear that the CBJ fired four members of their scouting staff 24 hours after the draft?

such a rediculous story, they basically wasted all their picks (except the sure-fire top 2 in murray and dansk) but their picks are being questioned a lot. John Williams who was an assistant director of the amatuer scouting said that Howson told him BEFORE the draft that he wasn't going to be back, but still let him and his staff pick. If you look at thier late round picks, they are terrible, any chance Williams suggested these picks as an F U?

I assume he'd want another job in the future, in which case I'll say no....

Haha. Yeah, thats crazy. But at the same time, outside of a 1st round pick chances of a player making the NHL are small; unless you're a goalie who has the tools to make it. Howson was smart to say no. Yeah you get a shitload of picks, but how many will actually make it?

Could this be the next burke trade???

"The Blues are not looped in on the talk till a Twitter account by the handle of @GhostofDD (Dallas Dave), says “Chris Stewart soon to be a Leaf?” and then added “@HennyTweets (Hendrick) isn't the type to screw around. Given deal hasn't happened yet, I'm thinking it's complex. Multi-player, with contracts to sort”.”

just a rumour but what are some possibles? i'd assume Kulemin would have to be in any deal, maybe franson as well? Kadri?

Praying that it includes Halak, that would be sweet but unlikely.

Not sure what to think... Hendricks has hinted that something is in the works and has been completely quiet since. It could honestly be anything if its true.

The Blues aren't trading Halak and we aren't trading our pick unless Burke never wants to be a GM ever again. Stewart doesn't solve our center problems either.

Would love to bring in Stewart. Not easy to bring in quality power forwards in NHL these days.

    Agreed.

Anyone know why the Blues would be even remotely interested in trading him?

some think he doesn't really gel with Hitch. From what i've read from St.Louis forums and bloggers they think that Stewart looked more like a "spare part" in his system. Thats a really good defensive team and (though i've never seen him play) i read that he's not that great a forechecker and defensively responsible. I think a guy like kulemin would interest them but Stewart > Kulemin IMO. hopefully another "hockey trade" can be worked out.
