The only reason I've heard of him is because of MLB 12 The Show. I always drafted him in fantasy draft. Definitely like this move for the Angels. When I heard about it, I was worried that his home numbers would be way out of proportion with his away numbers, but in 2011 they were fairly even. Glad we finally got some bullpen help!!

Yeah, always frightening to trade for a pitcher from Petco, but hopefully his home/away splits carry over.

Damm! I really like Amarista. I wonder if we offered Izzy or Callaspo?

They probably wanted young players, everyday players also Izzy's always got hamstring issues I'm sure they knew that!

I liked AA too, but with the contacts to Aybar and HK he probably wasn't gonna find much room here.

And I'm very pleased with this move!

Amarista had no place on the team to begin with, so it's better for both parties that he got traded. He'll probably get the opportunity to start at second since the Padres are most likely going to release Orlando Hudson.

Yea agreed. I was speaking purely from emotion. If Aybar were actually playing well this would be less of a concern.

On the bright side I have a soft spot for Petco park so now when I go down to SD I'll be able to root for Amarista hopefully he gets to play a lot.

    * Although I'll add that if we trade Callaspo or Maicer then Amarista would have slid into that role and then he would have had a place on the team. But oh well all in all this seems like a good move for both sides.

    I liked Amarista
But this guy seems like a very solid reliever!

Looking at his splits over his career, his home/road splits are almost identical, the only significant difference I see is a 1.3 drop in K/9 something that I dont see how could be effected by a pallpark.

Including this season he is under team control for the next 5 seasons!

One concern I have is that in 2010 and 2011 he walked close to 5 guys every 9 innings, so far this season he has improved that but it is still a concern.
