    scenarios..

    #5 Flyers are through.
    #7 Caps are through

#1 NYR vs #8 Ott - Tom night
#3 FLA vs #6 NJ - Tom night

IF the Rangers win. No matter what the outcome of the FLA / NJ game thats who we will be playing round 2. So assuming or just saying the rangers win this is it.

    #1 Rangers vs #7 Caps

    #5 Flyers vs #3/#6 Fla/NJ

IF the Rangers Lose the it changes a bit. All depends on the FLA/NJ series. So rangers lose and FLA wins.

    #3 FLA vs #8 OTT
    #5 Flyers vs #7 Caps

IF assuming again the Ranges lose but he Devils win. We would be the TOP SEED and have HOME ICE throughout.

    #5 Flyers vs #8 Ott
    #6 NJ vs #7 Caps

those are the scenarios right now.

Thanks to the Caps for helping us out a bit there. Im sorry and dont care what anyone says. I didnt want to face Boston at all.

Ok so I'm feelin a little mental here but bare with me and my review of what I've seen thus far in the SCFinals. Here's my bold but disturbing observations of how the Flyers can successfully trample any of the EC teams left....

New York Rangers: Couldn't beat em in the regular season but everybody knows that when it comes to the playoffs in any sport, the regular season don't mean ****. I think we can beat the Rangers, but it's gonna go all the way to 7 games. The only thing that scares me on that team is not Lundqvist, but their amazing ability to block shots. They're nearly impenetrable that it's frustrating. Lundqvist can be beat, but can Bryz or Bob match him? If they can, then the Flyers can do it. Having Boyle out is a plus.

Pointers for the Flyers- Avoid bad/all penalties
Crash the net and chip in some garbage goals
    Screen Lundqvist
Avoid dumping the puck (Rangers always take possession)
MUST have solid alert brick wall goaltending
D and forwards must block every possible SOG
Deflections (use em, but beware, they can pull em off as well)

Washington Capitals: The Capitals I can't see making it past this round no matter who they play. I'm not going to buy into the Holtby hype either, I've seen him numerous times playing out of net and making poor non-calculated anticipated attempts at saves, a good example would be the goal by Bergeron which forced game 7. Obviously they have the scoring, and don't forget the scoring D so again, block all possible shots. Bryz or Bob again must be solid and that's a no brainer.

Pointers for the Flyers: Fast and consistent forechecking from Briere-Simmonds-Schenn
Shoot from the point and pick up rebounds
    Play behind the net
When wide open, deke hard and throw Holtby's game off
    Shutdown Ovi's line
Block any slappers from Green & Hamrlik

Florida Panthers: I'm not really sure what to say about Florida other than the fact that they surprised the **** outta me this year. Kevin Dineen really turned em around. They haven't been to the Cup since they got raped by the Avs but that was a whole different team. This new team's dangerous. Versteeg, Fleischmann, Bergenheim, Goc, Weiss, Campbell and Jovo on D. Nothin to **** around with. They've got a hell of a shut down 4th line as well with John Madden throwing his old bones around like he's sacrificing his health for one more Cup. That is a very dangerous thing to take into consideration. Their Power Play I'm going to go out on a limb and say this; make any attempt at a short handed goal. Devils did.

    Pointers for the Flyers: Deflections
    Pick up rebounds
Out 4th line their 4th line (lookin at you Talbot)
Shut down their PP (small pointer but useful)
Good forechecking again from Danny B's line
Beware their D when hitting the slot
    Bryz/Bob....stay solid again

New Jersey Devils: Another tough team that you can't **** around with. It seems like they've got an entire team built from snipers. Kovalchuk, Elias, Zajac, Parise, Tallinder and even Zubrus all can find the back of the net from almost anywhere on the ice so they'll all need to have close attention paid and shut down. Also, I hate to say something like this because it could easily backfire but Brodeur I feel may be the least of the Flyer's worries. Sometimes he plays like he's still got it and other times he makes such bad un-Brodeur like decisions in net and can be easily bested. And I tell you this, cut through Brodeur and you cut through the whole team. I've seen a lot of games where Brodeur falls apart and the team follows him all the way down. Everytime he gives up a goal it's a huge momentum killer.

Pointers for the Flyers-Block all possible shots
    Intesify the Defense (forwards included)
Shut down Kovy, Elias and the aforementioned snipers
    Play behind the net
    Screen Brodeur
Anticipate where the rebounds may go & pick em up, faster
the better (Brodeur isn't as quick in his old age)
Finally, get the best of Brodeur and you best the team
But make sure nobody bests Bryz or Bob

Ottawa Senators: Now here's why I saved them for last and call me crazy over and over and over but the Sens have me confused and scared. I honestly can't draw you out a picture as to why I think this way, but I'm not sure we can beat them. This has nothing to do with the way they've handled the Rangers, which is phenomenal by the way. They just have certain guys who make my hair stand up. Chris Neil for one is a goddamn powerhouse, Matt Carkner for two is another goddamn powerhouse. Then you have Spezza, Foligno and Captain Alf all a real threat (if Cap'n Alf can stay healthy). Milan Michalek is a nasty bastard, and even Gonchar is upping his defense which had dropped significantly these past couple seasons. He's reminding me of how he played on the Penguins when they nailed the Red Wings in 09. On another note, I had previously stated that the regular season don't mean **** but I can't help but subdue this logic for these guys. We've always struggled a little against the Senators and I believe it's partly due to a very important issue which can't go unnoticed; their enforcers. Neil and Carkner have the gift of gab and the guns to back it up so that brings me to by far my most important pointer for the team which WOULDN'T HURT TO USE AGAINST ALL THESE TEAMS........

Pointers for the Flyers- Hartnell, Simmonds, Rinaldo, Talbot....chirp chirp chirp away
Get inside the Senators heads, throw their game off
Clear a little room for some dancin and do the ****in hustle
If they can successfully do this, then repeat and draw from every one of my pointers for each team and the series could be chalked up to a WIN.

FINALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT KEY TO WINNING AGAINST ANY OF THESE TEAMS AND I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH.....ALL PASSES MUST CONNECT ON THE TAPE!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you gentleman, and let's hope our guys in the orange and black are already aware of half the **** I just said, cuz the next series could be their last if they don't.

PS Does anybody remember when I was preachin Kubina way back at the trade deadline about how he was gonna bring more offense to the team? My prediction couldn't have been further from the truth. He's gotta step up with that bad *** slapper that we all know he has.

The good news is, no matter what we won't see NY in the next round. That's good enough for me. Still definitely hope they are out by the conference finals though.

good post but Im still skeptical about he Rangers, they have had our number all year and you can say what you want about experience this momentum that. Rangers are scary as crap. I understand we went against MAF but to say we got in his head and even got a bit lucky with him having a bad series is an understatement. Watching Henrik Lundqvist he has had a solid series, if anything the Rangers offense has been sluggish at times. Credit that to the sens defense but regardless again. Rangers scare me.

Capitals win last night was HUGE.

Obviously rooting for the Sens tonight, but if they lose it sets up a hell of a series between the Caps and NYR. Caps played them tough this year.

Ill try to watch FLA v NJ tonight, but those two playing each other is so boring.

Agreed.... the Ranger now have to win at least 5 more games before we would potentially run into them. The remaining options of Caps, Sens, NJ or FLA are far more comforting.

For the record I had the Sens as a more dangerous team than either Fl or NJ. Andersen is a beast over there. Spezza and Alfie are big gamers...
