Sorry, I don't understand the holding onto mediocre talent and trading promising talent.

The reason Hodgson wanted more minutes and felt blocked (and this was a primary reason for the trade) was because you guys had Sedin and Kesler ahead of him on the depth chart.

Those guys are certainly not mediocre

    Official Offseason Thread

I was talking about several other players but come to think of it, Kesler also fits. I realize in this NHL with at least 6 too many teams there are going to be overrated players, but it's tough when your team has about 3-5 good ones and several overrated ones. tbh I'd take a good prospect ahead of Kesler anytime ... and I think I'll be proven correct on this too eventually.

I dont know I guess thats just my opinion on the whole situation.
Of course MGs side is saying things, and people who know and have worked with Cody are saying things, we will probably never know the whole truth.

Im not hating on Cody or anything, I know hes gonna be fantastic, I just dont think we would have traded him unless we absolutely had to, and I feel he had a major role in that. And of course the only injury issue when he was first drafted probably didnt help the situation, we completely got off to the wrong foot with him which sucks. But who knows I could be wrong.

BTW, did any of you guys see Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts a few weeks ago? He outlined a few of MGs targets when he was looking to trade Cody.
    Brandon Sutter - Carolina
    John Carlson - Washington
    Erik Gudbranson - Florida
Kyle Clifford - LA (could you imagine)
    Zack Kassian - Buffalo

He stated there was a 6th target, but he wasnt sure who it was.

We should definitely trade for Roman Josi. Such a stud. Send Ballard to Nashville for this kid.

Yeah. Clifford is stupid. We passed on Clifford for Schroeder. So we consider Schroeder more valuable than CoHo, or does our scouting department just suck?

The scouting department got into the mindset that grit > skill.

We were already built for skill, might as well load up

Now were not quite skilled enough, and not quite tough enough.

We were never skilled enough. That's just been the GMs sales pitch. Skilled players find ways to make plays and score consistently 5 on 5, not just against weaker teams in the regular season.

Yeah we kind of are stuck in the middle between skill and toughness, and not in a good way like Boston last year.

And yeah I agree we weren't as skilled as the management made it seem. If we were we would be able to score more than 1 goal a game in the playoffs, regardless of who the goalie is.

Boring offseason. Losing in round 1 as opposed to round 3/4 sucks. Wait is too long. Only good thing is our team gets more rest and can properly prepare for the next season.

Thoughts on Bryan Allen, Mikael Samuelsson?

No thanks on Samuelsson. Maybe depending on the price for Allen.
