Would You Trade for Roberto Luongo?

I'm making a few assumptions here first of all:

    • he is available
    • the price is whatever you are willing to pay
    • he waives his no trade to come here

So, assuming all 3 of those things are true and all 3 of those things are possible, would you trade for Luongo? Talking strictly based on his contract and his talent, would you trade for him?

    Discuss.

    No. Never.

I don't know why people think this is a smart way to go. He's getting pushed out of town in Vancouver, his contract is gigantic and one of the worst in the NHL, he's past his prime and I honestly do not see him being able to handle the pressure of playing in Toronto.

Luongo has had a great career and he's still a good goalie, but he has been struggling more so the last few seasons on a team already stacked at D. Schneider has litterally been the reason why Vancouver is still alive in the series if they actually scored a goal in the 1-0 loss.

I don't see Toronto having any interesting in Luongo.

Joseph signed with Toronto during the 98-99 season... he was 29.

Belfour was 36 when he signed as a free agent.

No way we touch that horrible cap hit and length of contract

he plays with a good defensive system in front of him...with our defense he will get roasted and eaten alive...

definitely better than what we got... but no thanks to that contract

Uhh, ya. Let's give them Kadri, Schenn and our 1st (#5). lol

But how would we get Nash then? Isn't that what we were giving up for him...

    and JVR...

and fill in the blank for any star player that struggles in the 2012 playoffs and we wild-***-guess will become available.

Would You Trade for Roberto Luongo?

Nope, nope, and nope. Lou can rot on the bench in Van. He's frustrating a hell to watch. Watch how many times he loses his stick, it's rediculous.

No, if his contract didn't last 10 years then maybe but its too long and he is inconsistent.

There's a reason why Schneider is playing in place of him, Schneider is consistent. Luo, not so much.

vans tougher on player then we are. 1 good game and he's a god(here), but over there he plays 79 good games and 3 ****** games and he's the worst goalie on earth.

He's gone 100%. they're already talking about how its schnieders team now. Friedman himself said there was NO chance that luo starts another game unless schnieder is drunk in a ditch somewhere.

Luo gets this team to the playoffs. nuff said.
Playoffs are a whole different story. i just want playoff hockey.

do you honestly think thats what it would take?

because a second and a propect might be enough. I can even see a 2nd and Schenn.

Luo's not a bad goalie. look at his stats. If he were the same price and same age as schneider, the canucks choose luo 10 times outta 10.

fun fact just tweeted by friedman.

Luos remaining contract is 10 years at $4.7m. And every season after 2015 there is a 60 day window for him to be traded. Not to mention he could retire when he's 40, no way he plays till 43.

thats what i thought too, but friedman was just on PTS and broke it down perfectly. I dont remember the numbers but on average luo faces about 10 more shots then schnieder and then he went on to list other stats but i dont really remember them, but the message was that they didnt play great defense in front of him.
