    New York Mets (6-3) @ Atlanta Braves (5-4) 4/16-4/18

    @

New York Mets @ Atlanta Braves

    Monday, 4/16 7:10 PM

    Dillon Gee, RHP, (0-1, 5.06 ERA)vsTommy Hanson, RHP (1-1, 2.70 ERA)

A few defensive mistakes undermined Gee in his first start of the season, a loss to the Nats. Gee came away satisfied with his overall performance, and will look to further it vs. the Braves. He was 1-0 in three starts at Turner Field last season.

Hanson's velocity has been down in his first two starts and shoddy fastball command led him to throw a number of breaking balls his last time out. He limited the Mets to one run in five innings on Opening Day.

    Tuesday, 4/17 7:10 PM

    Johan Santana, LHP (0-1, .90 ERA)vs Randall Delgado, RHP (1-0, 3.60 ERA)

Given a pitch count of 105, Santana threw 99 against the Nats in his last start. It was his most in any start since August 2010. With an extra day of rest, Santana will have an even longer leash against the Braves.

Delgado notched a career-high six strikeouts and managed to escape the trouble he encountered while limiting the Astros to two runs in five innings on Wednesday. The young hurler is trying to gain confidence in his curveball.

    Wednesday, 4/18 12:10 PM

    R.A. Dickey, RHP (2-0, 2.08 ERA)vs Jair Jurrjens, RHP (0-1, 7.71 ERA)

Holding the Phillies to one run in seven innings on Friday, Dickey extended his streak to 14 consecutive quality starts. Since May 15 he ranks sixth in ERA behind Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Jered Weaver..

Jurrjens was better than his line indicated against the Brewers on Friday. His fastball had the life it had lacked since July. His only damage entering the sixth inning came courtesy of back-to-back two-out home runs in the second.

I'm not one to hold grudges......oh wait a second, yes I am

Return the favor Bravos. It's never good to have a division rival start off owning you. Series win at the very least but make a statement.

agreed. I freakin hate the Mutts. Let's punish those dirt bag sleazoids! Nothing ever hurts worse, in baseball, then when the Mets win one against us.

Santana will be tough again, just gotta work the count and get his pitch count up early.

while that is true, Gee for some reason has proven to be a pain in the *** against the braves. Maybe Fletcher/Walker can get the right approach to these ballplayers against him. Dickey is always a change of pace starter...got to get to him early.

    Lets make a statement.

Although it's still only April this is a huge series. This could be one where you look at it come September and ask "What if?" Especially if the Mets find themselves where everyone envisions them to be. You have to beat the teams that you're suppose to beat.

I'd say the chances of that are higher than him hitting higher than that.
