They already had the main core of players for the rotation, bringing in vets who work well in a team system, are good in practice has its benefits but not to a team that is supposed to be tanking. Once again the results this year aren't a surprise other then they would have had more wins without the lucky injury to Bargs.
Unless there was chance that Casey could be had the following season, I don't think you can say the coaching change was timed poorly, Casey was an opportunity that presented itself & he took advantage of it. Casey is/was a good move. It's unfortunate the timing of his availability.

Keep in mind Casey had say in these vets being brought in.

Bargnani's calf injury was stretched to 20 games.

It's hard to evaluate these two right now. I think we give Ed one more year and see how he develops. I'm more curious to see how his time with the staff over the summer is gonna benefit him.

I think it's wrong to be deciding between Ed & Amir. Ed should have the opportunity to start, if he's not going to get that opportunity here Raptors need to take advantage of his trade value.

The question to be answered is Bargnani or Ed?.

Amir. He's only two years older than Ed and is better at most things Ed brings (hustle, rebounding, defence etc.) Eddy D cool though and plays his role well.

I think it's clear the Raptors are going to choose Bargnani over Ed (as would anyone right now).

If your Davis, would you be happy/content playing behind Bargnani?.

Do you think he will get an opportunity to start with Bargnani here?.

The Raps made the choice to go with the new coach beforehand. Triano had an option for this year. Keep him and hire a coach at the end of the year. There are always good people available and Casey may have been avaialable again this offseason. BC doesn't know how to tank properly and his impatience hurts the Raps ability to build.

What's this thread about again? Sorry to whoever for this getting off topic but there is another thread by exactly the same name so that one can stay on topic.

Probably not. I've always thought rotation wise that Ed should be the 1st big off the bench. I just think his upside is greater than Amir. Amir just seems way to clumsy on offense.

I'll make this the last post on the subject.

Casey could have easily been a bust leading this team to a top pick & instead of being happy that the team got a top pick, people would be upset over the hiring being a failure.

You say he may have been available next season but you can't say that definitively, that's the point of taking advantage of opportunity when it presents itself, it's definitive.

Raptors have landed themselves a good coach moving forward.

Draft position is yet to be determined.

Key here IMO is Davis accepting that role. I know I wouldn't.

You have your opinions, I have mine. By the way the opportunity hadn't presented itself when BC committed himself to the path of hiring a new coach.

TBH I think if we somehow formulated a deal to trade Davis to BOS, I think being under KG's mentorship would truly take him to the next level.

Personally I think the team would be doing him a favour trading him to a team where he could/would get an opportunity to start.

I'm done for the night, we'll pick up.
