You forgot agent fees too.
But you also forgot appreciation of his investments. If he had an investments broker as good as mine (and doesn't spend wildly), he'd easily have more then he earned.
I don't think he'll retire this year myself, and I kind of wish he'd be quiet about it. The team is playing very well, no need to upset the apple cart. It's going to be upset with retirements soon enough.

Bird retired bc of injury....Pierce isnt injured.

There's something to be said for walking away on your own terms, retiring while still "on top" of your game. Being a Celtic he has witnessed numerous "teammates" end their careers on a whimper - Shaq, Sheed, probably JO, et al.

Pierce also has appreciation for his place in Celtic history...he has a chance to move up even higher on some NBA and Celtic all time lists in addition to still be healthy and good and getting 15 million a season for the next 2.
Literally no reason for him to retire.
El Presidente
I think I have made it abundantly clear that I feel the likelihood of Pierce retiring is slim, 25% at best. But to say he has no reason to retire? Read the quotes about perservng his body and spending time with his kids. It's obvious he has given this more than passing thought.... whether we like it or not.

Remember he's married now.
Choice A. Make millions playing a game with your buddies.
Choice B. Sit at home listening to the wife all day.
You make the call.
