can the panthers make the playoffs

cam newton has a year under his belt everyone should be healthy this season and be ready to make a strong push. Do you think they can make some noise this year and contend?

If Cam can tone down the turnovers and take a step forward, then the Panthers not only will make the playoffs, but they will also win the division.

When you have a guy that dynamic/explosive, he can mask a lot of blemishes on your squad. He just has to stop the turnovers.

They won't be just as bad this year. They're adding the second best MLB in the NFL back to the team. Brandon Hogan is a nice player. Adding a top ten selection, MAYBE Claiborne, maybe Coples. Point is, Saints are going to be a mess. Who knows if Brees plays at all if nothing gets done? Falcons hit their ceiling, lost their defensive leader. The Bucs have a crap secondary, worse than the Panthers.

Adding ....Eric Wright.. doesn't make them THAT much better. Maybe Carolinas defense won't be top 10, but, with a full training camp, a year of experience and 3 starters returning I don't see why the Panthers can't make the playoffs.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's highly unlikely that the Saints win the division. The Saints Head Coach is suspended for the season, and your interim coach is suspended for the first 6 games. Add that to the fact that Brees is at odds with upper management about his contract. Look for the Saints to win somewhere between 6-8 games. You're going to have a target on your back every week you play...

Brees is professional enough to play if he has to under the tag. and Brees is preety much like having another coach. Payton missed a good portion of the games last year. spare me the target talk as we hear the same crap every year for a variety of reasons.

Brees is talented enough that he can hold out and force a trade. I can easily see a team giving up a lot in a trade for Brees.

I'm assuming the op meant this year and I don't think so. They are still a few pieces away from making the playoffs IMO. They are and will be steadily improving as long as they don't have bad drafts. They will make it, just not this year.

Oddsmakers currently have the panthers at 8.5 at the over/under for wins next season, so they're definitely on the fringe. Regardless of their situation, the Saints have to still be the favorite in that division. They have so many offensive weapons. I still also believe that Atlanta is better. If the Panthers utilized their ground game more, I think they would have a better chance. Let's keep in mind that they really only had one quality win last year over Houston. Beyond that, their victories were against pretty bad teams.

Nope. While the offense put up some decent numbers, the defense was just horrendous. They need to get after opposing quarterbacks better and not allow so many big plays down the field. Atlanta and New Orleans are still much better teams.

Having Beason and Gamble healthy the whole will help a lot, and don't forget they drafted Luke Kuechly. I would not be surprised if they made the last wild card spot.

There are way to many good teams in the NFC for either to get the WC spot. If they don't win the division, they can forget about it.

i'm probably only one of a handful of saints fans that would probably take that. if we could get multiple high picks i dont see how you pass.

but i just dont see him voluntarily sitting out a year. he's too competative

Only chance is if they win their division... good luck with that with Atlanta and New Orleans being better. I dont see them being better than Atlanta/New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, or Philly.
