Yep. Clearly not as smart as you. I'm just a nerdy peon.Originally Posted by Tongue-Splitter:21776775

And I like how you didn't respond to anything else except the one part that least describes what I was saying. my point was perfectly clear and you chose THAT sentence.![]()

Reading the synopsis makes it sound like they took a bunch of things from other horror movies, Evil Dead/Resident Evil/etc and mashed them together
also, lol @ this Tongue Splitter guy
I think my critism is legit. One thing I don't think your getting is it's a HORROR/comedy. Its not a comedy and while I get that its satire the horror elements were terrible. And if you want specifics monster makeup looked like they bought a kit from walmart. CGI was terrible, kills were boring.
Again I get what it was trying to do I just don't think it succeed. For it to work you should walk the line between horror and comedy. And I don't dislike that genre i Like evil dead 2, army of darkness, jennifers body and Zack and dale fight evil. I think all those movies are light years better with walking those lines. They may not be scary but there are creepy elements.
Also the headline for this and what I keep hearing is its a "horror" masterpiece. How can it be a great horror fan if its not a horror film?
Also if you get a chance watch Zack and dale fight evil. If you think this was brilliant horror/ comedy your heads going to explode
I've actually seen Tucker and Dale Fight Evil. I agree, it's better than this film. This argument is more legit than your first one. If you don't think the humor was done well, that's a fair point. I do not believe that you can judge a movie for whether or not it is scary when it is clear that the film is not trying to be scary.
I'm not saying I loved the movie. I'm not saying it's the greatest horror film I've ever seen. All I'm saying is that, based on a satire of horror films, I would give it a good grade, and I would not knock it for comedy elements because the comedy elements are a large part of the film.
And since when has this type of horror film been scary anymore anyway? Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and other teen scream films haven't been scary for decades. They've all added lame tongue-in-cheek humor. All Cabin in the Woods did was take it a step further. If you think otherwise, well... I guess they have a ton of jump scares, but so did Cabin in the Woods.
And are you really trying to say that Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil was creepy? Because that movie was entirely comedic.
And iansnightout, give it a rest. Honestly.
Good one!

What I got from these post is that OP is a dick who lives in his moms basement.. And the movie is trash, by the way fix the condescending title, how would it be a new classic in the horror genre of you said it shouldn't be looked at as a horror movie?
#KNICKSTAPE #PLAYOFF2013
Well before i read this whole thread i had no clue it was supposed to be anything other than a Horror film.... and honestly how is anyone supposed to know otherwise unless they read reviews or talk to others who have seen it. Personally, if i think a movie looks good, i stay clear of reviews/friends who have seen it because i want to go into it with an open mind and not have anything potentially ruined for me. But, by Tongue Splitter's logic, i should read countless reviews of every movie i wanna see just to make sure it isnt something completely different than not only what i expect, but how it has been marketed?
oh and FYI i see what Tongue is saying about how you can't say a Horror/Comedy movie is bad just because it is a Horror/Comedy movie and not what you expected. Just think that its kind of a Pontless argument. It would be like going to the Dark Knight Rises after seeing the previews and having it end up being a romantic comedy/action movie... But your not allowed to dislike it because you should have known that it was a romantic comedy/action movie going into it and cant dislike it because of the Genre.... Hell NO!
props to VCU for the sig!
wow this thread got hijacked quick!
You have me confused with the OP. I am the person that you think is a dick that lives in his mom's basement.
That's actually not what I've been saying at all. You almost had it. I am perfectly okay with somebody being angry about the marketing. I'm not okay with somebody rating the movie because of what it was. If it is a horror comedy, rate it as a horror comedy. I felt like the person I originally responded to was not complaining about the marketing, but about the comedy aspect of a horror comedy. I was wrong. I've admitted to that.
And on one final note, if I sounded like an arrogant D-bag, I apologize. I was wrong about the first person I attacked, and I defended myself from there. The movie isn't as great as my aggressiveness seems to suggest, and I'm aware of that. I defended the movie with such hostility because it is the exact comment about horror movies that I have been complaining about forever. Redundancy in the genre gives me a serious headache, and this film addressed it... thus my aggressive defense of it.
Again, if I offended anybody, I apologize.
Just saw it and thought it was decent. Not the classic it's been raved as but still very enjoyable.

I have talked to people who saw it and it has been described as anywhere between decent to horrible. I haven't heard anything great about it but I still might check it out
It wasn't exactly polished enough for me to hale it as great. It was kind of all over the place... gets major points for creativity and originality though. Conceptually it simply tried to do too much though seeing as it probably won't nor shouldn't have any sequels.
