Here is an announcement about the Twins' move to Cedar Rapids: http://knuckleballsblog.com/2012/09/...-cedar-rapids/
I've got to go to work early today, so I'll post the official announcement when I get home if no one beats me to it.
Its going to be interesting to see which cities end up with which major league affiliations. There should be a lot of change this off-season, and not just in the Midwest League.
We'll find out in the next month or so.
Beloit, Burlington and the Quad Cities are unaffiliated and the A's, Astros and Angels are looking for teams. The A's have been in Burlington, and might just renew their affiliation there, so that leaves the Astros and Angels to pick between Beloit and Quad Cities. The Astros were in the Quad Cities a few years back and had a good working relationship with them, so maybe the Angels end up in Beloit?
It never made any sense to me for the Brewers to leave Beloit, as its in their fan-base.
I like the idea of the Angel's getting stuck with Beloit. Not to rip our former affiliate too much, but as far as stadium and attendance goes, Beloit is at or near the bottom. The Angels are near the top of the MLB pecking order, but find their deep pockets mean squadoosh when it comes to a meaningful relationship with a Midwest League partner.
