We must win this series. I wouldn't be able to stand losing to these fools.
I think the Flyers are perfectly built to beat the Penguins, which I think they will. And if Boston and NYR lose in the 1st round, I think the Flyers win the cup this year.
But I just do not see the Flyers getting passed a game 5/6 against those two teams this year. Not until Read/Couturier/Schenn are all consistent goal scorers. Went that day comes...![]()
Totally agree to all of these key points. My keys to the series are
1. WIN game 1
2. Have a effective PP
3. Bryz play like the beginning of March
Do all that and then take on Boston next round!
Since we are giving key`s to winning this series,my key`s are :
#1-The officials need to call an honest series ,dont know if they are capable..
#2-Bryz
#3-Taking advantage of our power play oppertunities
#4-winning face offs
#5-Staying out of the penalty box,Pittsburgh is great on the pp...
Cant wait,should be fun....Go-Fly-Boys...
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
why even bother with that #1 lol
im gonna go with..
#1 Couturier taking Malkin off his game, Schenn taking Crosby off his game
#2 Bryz pretending its still March
#3 Read/Briere/Hartnell/Simmonds scoring goals
#4 Stay healthy
If they can do that, Flyers win in 6, maybe even 5
i cant wait... i agree flyers playoff games are awesome to goto... i think i have missed maybe 4 home playoff games over the last 5 years... cant wait til sun to be up there again

I'm feeling saucy. Flyers win in 5. It all comes down to Bryz.
Any chance Harry Z is in the lineup? You know if Rinaldo looks at the refs the wrong way he's gonna get a penalty.
What about the final D pairing? I see Kubina was an xtra in practice. Think he'll be a scratch? I still think Gus should be the 6th D but that's not going to happen.
no. truth be told, Rino has earned his spot in the lineup. he's done a pretty good job on the shut-down line with Couts and Max. plus, if things do get out of hand, we need someone on the roster that can go to the box without hurting the team.
as far as the D pairings go, i was actually surprised Kubina was an extra. he hasn't been outstanding since coming over here, but he's a RH shot that the team desperately needs on the point and a big body that can help out with malkin and staal.
don't like the fact that he's getting pushed behind bourdon, if that truly is the case.
...MAB gets on my nerves as much as Carle does...and that's a lot...
I think the Flyers can take this series pretty handily. If you look at the games this year, we have dominated all of them (exception being the last one where the only two players that cared were Crysby and Malkan't). Even in that game we would have won if Bob knew how to guard the post against Kunitz's shot lol. In the one other game we lost it was all goaltending. We thoroughly dominated really. We scored good goals, had plenty of chances, and defended well. Bob and Bryz just were asleep at that point lol. I'm too damn excited about this series.
As for the next round, unless all the top three teams win their series we don't face the Rangers which is great. The later, the better. The field will level out a bit and they will wear down. We are a deeper team in my opinion. I think we can take them in the third round. The Bruins haven't been playing great hockey at all and I worry about the Devils a little bit, but I see it being a Flyers v Bruins second round and we take it in 6 again. I think Thomas is struggling enough for us to beat him (thats if the Caps don't take them down first.
PIPEDREAM ALERT:
Rangers beat Ottawa
Washington beats Boston
Florida beast NJ
Philly destroys Shittzburg
2nd round
Caps beat Rangers
Philly craps on the chests of Floridian fans
3rd round
Philly kills Ovechkan't
4th round
Philly over the Wings in a vengeance of 1997 match!!
...Hey...a guy can dream can't he?
My schedule has gotten pretty hectic over the last month or so and I will admit that I haven't been able to watch the games as much or as intently as I had been.....so as far as Kubina, I've scarcely seen him even load up for a shot and let one fly. Now maybe I'm not catching enough of it, but it really doesn't seem he's been a factor with the shot the way that we expected him or needed him to be. He's a veteran with a big body so that's a help, but at the same time he's also looked like he's showing some age...........
even still it would be surprising to not have him in there to start the playoffs.....perhaps a nagging injury of some sort that they didnt' want reported...we'll see tomorrow I guess...
i guess for me it comes down to....would you rather have kubina or bourdon in there?
personally, i'm taking kubina every time. i know the Flyers love MAB, but Kubina brings more size, and that plays a factor IMO for this series.
not to mention the playoff experience he brings as well.
ahhh its taking forever for wed to get here... i cant wait for the game to start
Less than 24 hours!!!
To be honest, as big of a Bourdon hater I've been this year, he hasn't been terrible during his current stint. He's even contributed to the offense, being one of the only dmen on the team who can get a shot on the net.
Like Hatch has said, Kubina as been underwhelming in the offensive zone/on the PP. I, too, can't remember the last time he got off one of the lasers we were all excited about when the Flyers acquired him. The only one that stands out came in his Flyers debut. He also hasn't been perfect in the turnover department, makes some bonehead plays regularly and takes unnecessary penalties.
I'd love to see Gus take the 6th spot, because of his speed, but I won't be up in arms with any three of those guys. If I had to choose between Kubina and MAB, I'd probably pick Kubina, only because of his size and experience (like phillyeaglesman said). Also, a MAB mistake in the playoffs might make me burst a vein in my forehead.
Who does everyone see breaking out this postseason? Is Giroux going to play like the Captain he'll eventually be and put the team on his back or will one of the young guns step up, ala JVR last year?
Personally, I think Voracek is going to have a huge series. He's had an outstanding final leg of the season and Read has begun stepping up his game again lately, as well. The speed of that line is going to do great things for us in April.
I also think Wellwood is going to pot that shorty he's been so close to getting many times this year.
