Another tough loss for the Bucs but Cain was just too good today.

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

Ahh the offense shows its dominance by being shutout. Apparently we didn't get the memo that solid pitching does not automatically mean you win. My negativity didn't work so that's out. I don't know what to think anymore. We don't have the pitching to carry us this season. We are improved but not great by any means.

What a fantastic night to be a Pittsburgh sports fan

Figure McDonald would get our only hit. Anyway Tomahawk I guess there are limits to your powers, it only works on one player a night. Please choose Alvarez tomorrow

Who would have thought my power would be limited? Learn something new everyday I guess. Alvarez it shall be though, may need to be him for the whole season too.

Anyway, congrats Burgh! You definitely deserve it. When I first started posting here, you were pretty much talking to yourself lol... I was tempted to never come back. What the forum has become is definitely a testament to your love of the Pirates and willingness to stick it out

Damn, another night of Pens and Buccos going down .Oh well, today is a new day...let's get this going in the right direction fellas!

PS: For once, can we get a teams 3-4 or 5 guy? We've had some serious pitching thrown at us.

Guess we have to wait on Alvarez.

    Presley, LF
    Tabata, RF
    McCutchen, CF
    McGehee, 1B
    Barajas, C
    Walker, 2B
    Harrison, 3B
    Barmes, SS
    Morton, P

I don't like having Barajas in the 5th spot but our options are limited. Also I mentioned this in the other thread but Hague was sent down today.

Praying for a couple hits tonight!

Zito was pretty nasty in his opener...hopefully we can get to him. His junk and slow/breaking stuff probably would have tormented Pedro...and the fact that he's a lefty.

First, they got 2 hits in one inning!?!? And then...two RUNS in one inning?!?! Amazing!

2 run leads in Pittsburgh sports haven't been good things lately, though

3-3 in the 9th. Amazingly we scored 3 whole runs this game but we need a 4th. Come on Presley.

Barajas drops the ball at home plate and the Giants win. Admittedly Barnes throw wasn't perfect but he probably should have had it. Now 2-6, certainly not good, need a quick turnaround starting tomorrow before the wheels all fall off.

Edit: On second thought blame it on both of them.

Not much positive going on so I figure with no offense why not post the lineup I hope to see by season's end.

    Matte, LF
    d'Arnaud, SS
    McCutchen, CF
    Alvarez, 3B
    McGehee, 1B
    Walker, 2B
    Presley/Tabata, RF
    Fryer, C

Obviously this would take a huge step forward from Alvarez but one can dream right? I like Marte in the leadoff spot if he can learn to take a BB and I like d'Arnaud in the 2 hole if his offense improves. Also wouldn't mind seeing Mercer or Navarro in the 7th hole with Presley/Tabata in the 2 hole.

Just for fun, here is the Pirates best lineup today based on YTD numbers. Its a funny looking one.

    Correia, P
    McGehee, 3B
    Presley, LF
    McKenry, C
    McCutchen, CF
    Harrison, 2B
    Jones, 1B
    Barmes, SS
    McLouth, RF

According to their numbers thus far the offense should produce 4.825 runs per game.
