I don't really think there are any challengers at LHW that deserve a shot right now.

Hendo can make the best case, but he barely beat Shogun, and that's his only win back in the UFC. He makes a case because his SF fights leading up to the Shogun win.

Shogun needs at least another two wins after how one-sided his first Jones fight was. He is shot IMO and I don't think that he will ever get back to where he was.

Whoever said Evans should get a shot if he wins one more fight... please. He needs two solid wins before I would even consider him. He literally just got dominated for five rounds by Jones. Rashad should move down to MW.

Lyoto doesn't deserve a shot after a win against the overrated Ryan Bader. One really impressive win, or two good wins before he gets a shot.

Glover should get one if he can win impressively over a top guy. I would not say Rampage is a top guy anymore, but whatever.

Gus should get one if he gets another win.

Sonnen... haha he got the next shot.

Ya, that's what I said. I just don't get why everyone is riding on the Machida wagon right now. He beat a fringe top ten LHW, and everyone thinks he deserves a shot. I know what Dana said but the fact remains one fight, or no fight in Sonnen's case, should not get you a title shot.

Rashad is being a pretty big puss here. They said just fight once at MW and get a title shot. You know they probably wouldn't even give him that hard of a fight, just a tune-up more or less. Maybe they put him in against a guy like Tim Boetsch; a guy starting to make a little noise but will probably never get to the top. I guess it is fair that he asks for an instant shot if the UFC is giving Frankie Edgar and Chael Sonnen immediate title shots in new weight classes.

Matt Riddle, Francisco Rivera suspended following positive UFC 149 drug tests

Two more UFC fighters recently tested positive for banned substances.

Following July's UFC 149 event, welterweight Matt Riddle was flagged for marijuana while featherweight Francisco Rivera tested positive for an undisclosed over-the-counter stimulant, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned from multiple sources close to the event.

Both fighters were suspended for 90 days retroactive to the July 21 event, which makes them eligible to fight on Friday. The results of their respective bouts were not changed.

According to sources close to the competitors, both fighters declined to appeal their punishments and apologized for their actions.

Shirley Stunzi of the Calgary Combative Sports Commission, which oversaw the pay-per-view event at the Scotiabank Saddledome, declined comment for this story. Reps for both fighters were unreachable.

Riddle (7-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) fought striking specialist Chris Clements and won a "Submission of the Night" bonus for securing a third-round arm triangle.

Rivera (9-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) fought Roland Delorme and put in an early bid for a "Knockout of the Night" bonus with a crushing stoppage of the veteran of "The Ultimate Fighter 14," though the honor ultimately went to Ryan Jimmo for a seven-second KO of Anthony Perosh.

Because it has more to do with Machida putting up the best fight against Bones than who deserves it.

Why not give him a new opponent like Gus if that's the case? He is the longest LHW outside of Jones and I would much rather watch that than Machida II. I don't think anyone stands a chance really, and Machida would get steamrolled again IMO.

I was thinking that when I posted it, but that's the only way I could see Davis finishing him. Davis doesn't have much power, but with that being said, Forrest doesn't have much of a chin. Realistically, I could see Davis just tossing him around for 3 rounds.

That's an interesting fight. Forrest has a massive advantage in the standup. His standup is underrated because of the Silva fight. But Silva does that to a lot of opponents. Look at his fights with Franklin and Ortiz. His striking was a lot crisper. His punches did not loop, they were straight.

The problem is Forrest got taken down 3 times by Tito Ortiz. He can get taken down. Phil will obviously look to that and win the fight on the ground.
