Given the choice I'd pick Hellickson, but ultimately, I wouldn't want either. Pineda is easily the more talented of the two; he has two devastating pitches, but his violent mechanics, past elbow problems, and now shoulder injury, has me running for the hills. I had predicted during the winter that it would be a bad trade for the yankees for this very reason and it looks like I was right. Just look at my sig.

Perhaps you haven't heard, but Pineda is dead.

    Helly without doubt.

Pineda has great pitches, but is a what-if guy. Will never be healthy to make a difference.

Hellickson will be a great pitcher will a couple elite years later down the road, but mostly he’ll be a solid arm and probably a workhorse like James Shields.

I'll take Hellickson no question, and I would have said that before the injury to Pineda.
