If you ever have to go to the bathroom, just wait until the Flyers have a 3-on-2. Good kill, though.

Plus you can't always point a finger and say that goal was your fault. There are five guys on the ice...and more often than not this season we've had more than one rookie on the ice at a time.
All true. I was just kind of surprised that he was directly involved in the first goal of the game.

I said yesterday that I'd rather have him out there than Lilja, and I think I still feel that way.

Another PP for Pittsburgh. I thought the refs were going to be minimalists in this one, but now they're craving Penguin power plays.

Still haven't seen the replay from the first penalty, which happened off-screen.

We get a shot off on 1 out of every 15 odd-man advantages.

Grossman was a beast at the end of that kill. Flyers killed off the penalty, but the refs have successfully killed off the last 5 minutes of the first period, so the Pens exit with a lead.

If you don't call an obvious high-stick at the beginning of the period, I'd expect you wouldn't get nitpicky at the end of the period. I have no problem with calling this like a playoff game, but be consistent.

tough goal there. double deflection off the stick then manning's skate. if it hadn't hit manning's skate Bryz would have had that. Bryz looks solid again so far. he's made a lot of big saves already.

Flyers gotta get more pucks to the net, challenge fleury, get in his crease, quit trying to beat him with the first shot.

overall, though, solid start. MUCH better than yesterday.

Have we allowed 40 shots on goal in a game this year? Right now, we're on pace to do that.

Lavy put the fourth line out to start the period, but I don't think it worked out quite the way he wanted it to. Ugly shift.

I don't know how Bryz is seeing some of these shots.

We haven't really controlled the puck in the Pittsburgh zone yet this period.

Looked like Rinaldo still had a skate in the neutral zone.

This has been another forgettable game for Simmonds. It's like he's afraid to get into the action along the boards.

Jagr almost tied this on his own. He comes to play against Pittsburgh.
