    Is Jason Heyward a bust?

He was viewed as one of the greatest prospects in a while and had all of the tools. He had a solid rookie year but a terrible second year. This spring training he has been awful as well, not even batting .200 with no HR's and a High strikeout rate. If he has another bad year is it safe to consider him one of the biggest busts ever?

Edit: Ok since I'm getting all of this criticism let me reword the question. Will he live up to his potential?

He is 22 years old. He could have a bad season and still enter the next at 23. Not even close to being a bust at such a young age.

Heyward did not just have a good rookie season, he was by far the best rookie that year. He did have a horrible year in 2011, but i think he will bounce back. His BABIP was way low in 2011 at 260, compared to his 330 mark in 2010, so you know he wont be as bad as he was in 2011. Moreover, he does have an amazing plate approach, just look back at his minor league career and even look at 2011 when he was horrible. His OBP was almost .100 points better than his 227 average. Hes only 22, going to turn 23... its still way to early to give up on him. Also spring training stats are pretty meaningless in general

Not even close. Heyward finished 2nd in the ROY balloting in 2010 and was plagued by injuries last year. If he's healthy and falls flat on his face, then you can start this discussion but in no way is he a bust or should even be thought as one.

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

Only one person doesn't understand the ignore list. Predictable and cowardly

I don't do this much but

He had a bad year and still posted a .319 OBP. It was his 2nd year, and you're labeling a player bust on one bad season and a rough spring training..after putting up a fantastic rookie season.

    A solid rookie year?

Try one of the best rookie seasons for somebody his age ever. This thread is so incredibly stupid. Last year, his "bad year", he was a league average hitter and a ++ defender. Better than a league average player. When's the last time that constituted a bust? Just wait for this season.

His age, plate discipline, defensive ability, and raw tools.

No way is a he a bust based on such a small sample size.

He might not end up as this hall of fame right fielder that some Braves fans thought they had, but at the very worst, he should be a perennial top 100 player in baseball.

If your fantasy league cares about OBP, he would be a great pick up this year, especially if you are trading with someone who is just looking at 2011.

Wasn't he hurt a bunch last year? Or was it just because fredi is an idiot? Must be nice to be considered a bust at 22

He was hurt quite a bit last year and had to change his swing to play through it. Fredi is dumb too but yeah.
