Mara Confident Cruz Deal Will Get Done (Post - #213)

The New York Daily News reports the Giants have offered restricted free agent Victor Cruz a long-term contract that "exceeds" $7 million annually.
The offer also reportedly contains a "sizable amount" of guaranteed money. It isn't thought to be such a long-term commitment where it wouldn't allow Cruz to sign another lengthy contract when this potential one expires. The $7 million per year average is slightly higher than what Danny Amendola and Wes Welker received in free agency last week. Cruz is younger and more versatile than Welker, while he isn't the injury risk that Amendola is. With Cruz switching agents, it's expected that a deal will get worked out so that he won't have to play the 2013 season under the $2.879 million tender, but there's still work to do

So another team has to pay a 1st and 8m a year. I doubt that happens so either cruz take this or sign the tender. Then next year he can try to find his Wallace $, which he wont get being a slot. So maybe he underatands his slot value and take this.

Victor Cruz reportedly has offer from New York Giants

New York Giants chairman and executive vice president Steve Tisch predicted a week ago that restricted free agent Victor Cruz would wind up with a "higher" annual salary than the roughly $6 million recently given to top slot receivers Wes Welker and Danny Amendola.

Tisch wasn't exactly going out on a limb. Cruz has a youth and versatility edge on Welker and has been significantly more productive than Amendola.

As it turns out, it appears Tisch also had inside information that Cruz has already been offered more than Welker and Amendola. The Giants have extended an offer that exceeds $7 million per year while adding a "sizable amount" of guaranteed money, Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported Saturday. (still give credit to RCS for posting the original link )

The offer would seem to be in the three- or four-year range, as Myers adds that it would still leave the 26-year-old Cruz another chance to land a big contract later in his career.

Cruz obviously has his sights set on a more lucrative long-term deal, or else he would have accepted the offer by now.

The good news for the Giants is two-fold.

No other team appears willing to relinquish both a first-round pick and a long-term contract for the rights to Cruz. Perhaps just as importantly, the receiver recently switched to agent Tom Condon, who has a solid relationship with the Giants representing Eli Manning.

At this point, it appears to be a matter of "when" as opposed to "if" Cruz will sign a new contract to remain with the Giants.

it's a 3-4 year deal.....meh, not a fan of a short deal, but who knows if the Giants will be able to keep Cruz a Giant forever? , but I don't blame them, got Nicks on deck (2014 UFA) with JPP right behind him (2015 UFA)

I don't think Condon is stupid. This is right at value for him as a slot and it gives him a chance for one more big pay day. Condon is gonna much prefer having guaranteed money for a few years than take the chance that injury or poor play kills his value. I think this gets done

7mill a year ..he's worth more depending on guarantee but the giants even with cp space would be irresponsible to offer more .

-Cruz should take it but I get it 2 years of pro bowl caliber play for a total of maybe 1 mill plus a ring sounds like a career pay day time and he's loyal never really injured and young (26?) but also lost money due to the practice squad years and last 2 min wage in nfl seasons basically ..

So he could feel like he's already "owed" 10-20$ mill , this is we're ego comes in .

If he fights for 8 or more guaranteed money I dnt blame him at all .

    QUICK THOUGHT/question -

If you're Cruz do you want a longer deal he's 26 .. Longer deal is e best way to sort of guarantee a pay day until he's 30 or do you want a short one were you're 28 but if u decline u lose money later .
