only way i see it being someone other than G is if he doesn't want it. we've seen that before with guys like Rico and Gags. sometimes they just don't want the responsibility. if it's not him, i agree that it will be when timonen and prongs are done is when they'll name a "new" captain. at that point, the other option to me would be schenn.
that being said, G will be the captain. i don't see him not wanting the "C" on his chest. you can already see without prongs he's been the most vocal guy during and after games.
...not Talbots fault the wrong team originally drafted him.
that guy plays like a Philadelphia Flyer. There is not denying that,
I agree. Max is the perfect Flyer.
I also agree G is in the mix for the next C, but just because you are a teams biggest star doesn't automatically put you in line to be the captain.
Why isn't G an alternate?? Talbot has been here less than a year and has the A, but Giroux has been our biggest star the past two years (IMO) and doesn't wear the A.
I love G and what he does for us, but I have actually been a little dissappointed in him this year. He plays great, but he could provide us with so much more. I see him pass when the best option is a shot and shoot when his linemate has the better opportunity. I just hope G realizes that there is no such thing as a finished product...and what I mean is that you always need to improve your game.
G wears an A occasionally. He had it on against the Wings.
I honestly think Schenn might be better suited to wear the "C" than Giroux. It's not that G isn't a great player (he is) or that he doesn't lead by example (he does), but that's a TON of weight to put on one player's shoulders. Giroux is already expected to lead the team in scoring, play against the other team's top lines in all situations, and be a presence in the locker room/on the bench.
Tack on to that the added responsibilities that captaincy entails, and it might be too much. It could be better if G could wear an "A" with another veteran and let the captaincy go to someone like Schenn (who, IMO, would be a tremendous Flyer captain).
