I saw a little Lester in his build, and the way he repeats his mechanics and commands his fastball had me thinking Cliff Lee. His changeup is Lee-esque as well.

Obviously those are high end comps.

That's just not even close to true.

Hahaha exactly whos *** did that get pulled out of?

Nicolino has a good shot at being a mid rotation starter I guess. But he has almost no chance of being an ace.

Well he obviously has a chance, every top 100 pitching prospect currently has that chance, because pitchers and the way they develop is so inconsistent and difficult to predict.

But yes, it's unlikely that he turns into an ace, but it's certainly a possibility.

I really like the kid from Boston, Garin Cecchini. Was a projected first round draft pick in 2010 but an injury dropped him to the 4th round where the sox took him.

He's a solid fielder and has a great live bat that hits for plenty of average and could deelop some more power as he fills out. He has average to above average speed as evidenced by his 50 or so stolen bases this past year.

He batted .298 in 32 games for low single A Lowell and batted .305 for high A Salem this past year. Very high baseball IQ and a strong arm over at 3b. Heard he has the ceiling as a perennial allstar. That sounds good to me and ever since he was drafted I had told people to watch out for this kid and I truly think he'll be a big part of that lineup for years to come.

I'm a fan of Cecchini as well. Nice set of skills for a young hitter, and the fact that he's a competent athlete who can play a non-1B infield position is pretty sweet.

I think Cecchini is destined for 2B. He'll be a good OBP guy as long as he learns to hit LHP which he didnt do at all this year.

Unless he improves his "Stuff", nicholino's best case scenario is mark Beuhrle

Things will always work out in the end, but if you want them to turn out a certain way... You need to make it happen.

He already throws harder than Buehrle, who would be a ridiculously good outcome for any pitching prospect.

One of my favorite sleeper catching prospects in the minors:

    JR Murphy

Hidden behind the larger upside Sanchez and the long tenured (prospect-style obviously) Romine. There was also that Montero guy...Anyway, excellent athlete for the position, good size, young, has some pop, no questions about his long term ability to stay behind the plate. I think he'll emerge as a quality starter in due time. The Yankees seem to like him - pushing him up to AA just for the challenge of it all this year. Some team is going to make a trade with them, he'll be in the package, and they'll be happy about it in 2014 or 2015.
