No. We need depth. If we made that deal, and Mario Williams were to go down again, it'd be like losing 3 players depth wise. Injuries plagued us enough last year, remember? Mario's a gamble as well. He's a top notch player when healthy, and a dominant force to be reckoned with. However, he ended up not playing a good chunk of last season. This is not a low risk - high reward situation. Mario Williams will be expensive. We have too many holes on defense to fill, and we could sign a few more players if we didn't load up on Williams salary. I'd rather see the Raiders restructure contracts, see the money they could spend on Williams salary be applied to investing in a quality secondary. Just my opinion. I could be way off.

I would love to acquire Williams, but I just don't see us spending big time money for a year or two. (outside current players)

    ...damn you Seymour.

You guys are still dreaming in Al Davis mode...that deal would only happen if Al Davis was alive and you pitched it to him in a way where he would think it was his idea...but remember he died.

Won't happen. Don't see us getting any big FA this years. This will be a tryout year for everyone on the team. If they plan on being part of what Da and Rm want in that position. I also think this is Carson last year unless he has a great year. They'll be looking for there QB next year. There gonna try to rework current players so there easy to cut or keep next year. There planning for the future not right now like Al did.

I wasn't suggesting a trade, but for the Raider to release Wimbley, Henderson and Kelly if they aren't willing to restructure at a reasonable rate. And if they declined, you send them packing, and use the money you would have spent on them, and spend it on Williams (plus you'd save about 3 million).

Like Williams, But I can't see this happening just because of the salary implications and how it would destroy our depth.

I kind of like that deal.. & if the Raiders can't get Mario Williams then I would say lets go after Cliff Avril from Detroit.. Another sexy pick.

Williams would be the best signing the raiders could make. And he Will not be paid 23 million a seasob. Maybe 15-17m but 23 is just ludicrous.

    Williams, Seymour, Houston, Shaunassee

Best line in the league by far. Our linebackers would run free with that line and our secondary would not be a big issue because of the talent up front getting to the qb.

If we were to resign Branch, get Williams, sign Porter for cb, and then get a RT via free agency, and sign competition at linebacker (Joe Mays) I would be happy. Fill the depth out with our few draftpicks and call it an offseason.

Those players should be released or restructed whether or not Williams is signed.
