The show is so well done that it's hard to call any episode bad - but the last 2 have been a bit underwhelming. There are just sooooo many characters & storylines playing out that it feels as if we only get very minor progression in each story arc week to week. I'm sure everything will come to a head eventually - but it does give a sense of 'filler' to these episodes that are bridging the gap.

It also sucks that we haven't seen Joffrey, Robb, & Jamie in 2 weeks - and no Dany or the other Baratheon brother this week either. I hope with all these characters, that they don't spread themselves too thin.

I wonder if they'd be better off going the LOST route where specific episodes focus on 1 specific character so that every episode would at least feel like something major was happening.

^^Tough when it's to be a 7-book arc, and you're essentially on book 2. I think they did extremely well to introduce and link each character, and now we're in that phase where they have to juggle all of them.

Yea probably wouldn't work all that great given LOST used the whole flashback gimmick to tell a large portion of the character's story - but while I've enjoyed the last 2 episodes - I can't help but feel as a stand alone episodes they were just lacking

this reminded me of david simon's recent interview where he basically chastised viewers and bloggers who critique singular episodes of tv shows on a week-to-week basis. his point was actually quite valid - you wouldn't read a book and critique the entire novel chapter by chapter. likewise, each episode, by itself, is but a portion of the general story, which doesn't come together and can't truly be judged until the final product is revealed.

here's the interview if you're interested (it's a bit long): link

ok this may be random, but I have never experienced this before in a show I have watched every week since the start.

Anyone else have trouble remembering who the **** everyone is? I am telling you it is unreal. I have watched every episode and still have to dig deep to figure out who these people are before seeing them.

Strange, not sure if it is just the number of people or maybe I am an idiot?

Yea - but I'm given the book in it's entirety.. so while I agree with his general assessment - I think it's also not quite an apples to apples comparison. TV & Print are different types of entertainment and hence I don't think you can simply apply his logic to the tv show and say - 'Hey you can't say this episode wasn't very good because you don't know what's going to happen 6 weeks from now'

If they wanted us to not judge/enjoy/critique episodes week by week - then they should just release entire seasons in 1 shot and let us watch at our own pace - that way I can judge it on it's entirety on not on the individual sum of its parts.

I agree with others that this show is a little hard to follow for those of us who haven't read the books. I am constantly looking back and finding out exactly who is who and what not. Not a bad thing though, if anything it means the show is doing a good job of keeping me interested and wanting to know more.

Like others have said though, last nights episode was kind of of underwhelming. I did like how the dwarf played everyone in the King's council.

It's tough for those even reading the book to follow everyone sometimes. And with so many characters it has to be expected that some won't be in every episode.

Also, the iron island scenes have been my favorite so far, great acting by theon when showing him switch his loyalty

Agreed - he was excellent - especially enjoyed the scene where he called out his father for giving him away. I think that story has gotten the most time the last few weeks - little surprise then it's been my favorite new arc of the S2

No dude not at all. I didn't read any of the books and at times am like, wait, who the **** did he just say? Just to find out it is a character never mentioned before but, I am panicking as if I must've missed them.

The Game of Thrones WIKI is your best friend. I literally went on their and they have a write up on each character that is not long at all and it cleared a TON of stuff up for me. I mean this show jumps quite a bit so painting a picture of everything is hard but, that wiki really helped me quite a bit and I have a far better picture of what is going on.

With that said, I think the episodes have been great IMO. I really don't need some BIG **** every episode as I feel like that becomes overwhelming. I like the building story allot.

For those who have read the books, up to A Storm of Swords (in white): How great was the decision to put Shae with Sansa? A change from the book but for the good cause of the marriage. Also, how awesome that we finally go to Harrenhall!

Wish I saw that King beyond The Wall!

I thought they would show more storyline from the Knights Watch.

Kinda disappointed Knights Watch has been barely visible in these past 2 episodes.

Patience is something that some viewers just do not have.

I will tell you this do not expect major resolutions to things this season because the story just keeps going and going.
