Just like Matt Flynn was going to get franchise tagged too. Matt Flynn could only wish to have the physical tools of Brandon Weeden.
It got a lot closer to happening than anyone ever thought. Excuse me for being wrong once, I forgot you've never been wrong.

You have a massive hard on for Weeden and I think it's unwarranted.

We'll see. If Flynn ends up playing well you know I won't forget and if Weeden does....I'm sure you won't either.

How do you gauge the "closeness" of it happening? Regardless, it didn't.

Based on...what? I'll say his decision making is not the best, but outside of that, he's got every skill you could ever want from a QB. The fact that he's 28 doesn't scare me at QB nearly as much as it would at basically every other position. Where Weeden lands will largely determine his success, but he could be a stud.

    Of course.

Everyone said they wouldn't have the money or they would tag Finley but they didn't tag Finley and had to release two players, possibly just one, to fit under.

I just don't want him because you're going to blink and he's 30. I don't buy all this wear and tear on his body or blah blah. If he's 22 then I'm saying top 5 pick.

I guess I'm not willing to tell people that he will be great and play until he's 40 like some people.

He'll have a better career than Flynn, book it.

Also, IMO he's the 2nd best polished QB in the draft. He has maybe the bet arm in the draft. Since he is 28, I think he'll play older than most QBs do. Maybe till he's 38-39. So he has about 10 years I'd say.

Yeah because the average career span of 2nd round QB's is 10 years anyways

Also, Burfict will FLY UP THE DRAFT BOARDS AT THE COMBINE!! book it

The combine already happened and his stock fell like crazy, surprised you yourself didn't see that.

You were the one that guaranteed me he would skyrocket.

I don't really have much respect for anything you "book" lol

seems like this draft is too top heavy.. after Luck-RG3-Kalil-Clairborne-Blackmon prospects #6-#20 seem interchangeable to a degree

Obviously some are higher but theres no set group at each group area of picks

Well, that fits the bill for what we look for. Still unsure if he is the ideal guy at 7, would like to see us trade back a few and take him. Not sure there will be a team that would want to trade up to 7 though.

This has to be one of the worst drafts for LBs.

What do you mean you don't buy the wear and tear thing? He didn't spend years playing football. He's been playing baseball. That's a lot different. He hasn't been taking hits.

I think he will be great. I think there's a good chance he plays until he's 40, or pretty damn close. Lets say you get 10 years out of him as a solid starter. That's good enough for me to pull the trigger, especially since he's more NFL-ready than any QB not named Andrew Luck. The Jets and Browns should be all over Weeden.

I'm trying to tell this to people in the Browns forum. If I were rating Weeden as a player, it would be:

    Luck- 95
    RGIII- 92
    Weeden- 91
    Tannehill- 81

Weeden may be the 2nd best QB in the draft behind Luck, and I say he plays older than most QBs and I think he'll be a top 10 or better QB. RGIII is just higher because he has more speed.
