One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season are the great sales, and while it may be a little wrong to do so during that time of the year, I will occassionally spend on myself before others. But most of the time, it's warranted. It was no different this year.
I picked up a part-time job at Macy's, and they had some great sales. Between that and my employee discount, I knew exactly what I wanted for Christmas - a peacoat.
I have never been much of a coat person - I generally hate them. But living in Western NY, it's a necessity. I've always worn a light fleece, but that simply does not get the job done. I knew that I needed a peacoat, but I needed some help.
So I surrounded myself with Peacoat extrodinaires, like Haggis, Howe and northsider. While I have never met them, I know they have great style and taste. With their help, I made a decision that would impact my life much greater than I previously expected.
I bought a Calvin Klein charcoal peacoat, and for under $80. I always knew it looked great, and I received many compliments, upping my self esteem. But today it played a greater part of my day.
Today was the first real snow of the year, and man is it bad. It's cold, windy and snowy. Having to brush off my car this morning and drive to work was such a hassle. But it was so much easier with my peacoat. It kept me warm when I was in need. And the tough drive to work was made much easier through keeping warm and keeping my confidence high. I drove past one car that had spun out. At quick glance, the driver was not wearing a peacoat. I knew that I, who was wearing my incredible warm and comfortable peacoat, was in prime driving condition and I would make it to work safe and sound.
If only the other driver had realized that ahead of time.
