Sabres resign Ruff for Multi year deal

Sources from the Hockey Channel on Direct TV said this afternoon that the Sabres resigned Ruff to a multi year deal and that some reports are indicating that it is as high as 7 more years.

So if you read between the lines, Darcy will be fired at seasons end.
If Pegula is watching and thinks that Ruff is deserving of a 7-year contract, with the way the Sabres are playing, that means he has to blame Darcy for the crappy record. 7 NHL coaches have been fired this year over lousy play and Ruff gets 7 year extension for the same lousy play. That should be proof that he feels Ruff has done as good as a job that he can, with having a bunch of 3rd and 4th line players.

FYI everything in your post was false. News came out yesterday about the deal Ruff signed last April. It was rumored to be 6-7 years, which was untrue.

Former NHL goaltender Greg Millen, now an analyst for Leafs TV and Sportsnet, got the Internet buzzing late in Tuesday night's game when he said that Sabres coach Lindy Ruff signed a seven-year contract extension last April. Ruff, of course, is beloved by owner Terry Pegula, and both President Ted Black and GM Darcy Regier maintain there is no coaching change on the Sabres' horizon. A long-term extension like that could be one reason why.

Presented with the Millen report by The Buffalo News after his normal daily session today with the media, Ruff strongly denied it.

"It's nowhere close to that length," Ruff said. "That's not true."

Told that two sources of The News insist the deal is for six years, Ruff also shot down that report. ""It's nowhere close to that either. It's a normal coach's contract. It's not a player's contract."

On the day it was announced, both Ruff and the team refused to reveal the terms, but it's long been believed to be for three years with an option for a fourth.

All I said it was reported and thats what you pointed out too, that it was reported. So to say its false would mean that it was never reported and nowhere mentioned. As if it was made up out of thin air.

The reports were false and your mischaracterization of the reports due to lack of reading comprehension was also wrong.

Pegula blames the injuries. It was in an interview on NHL.com yesterday. But that may have been a diplomatic response.
