The definition of "Core players" is who a team should build around for the future. So your wrong, Adam is apart of the core along with Vanek, Myers and Mcnabb. There were no free agent center's last year and there is none this year coming up. So Adam, who is playing great, should be a player the Sabres try to build around, being that he probably will be our 2nd line center next year. Mcnabb and Myers are our core because you will never find big stron defenseman like that. Vanek is our core for obvious reasons. He has never played with great players, but scores 30 and carried this team on his back last year for something like 20 points in the last 11 games.

If we trade away Hecht, Roy, McCormick and Gaustad, then Adam may indeed be the second line center next year. Pretty telling that when Hecht was one game back from a concussion Adam got demoted from the first line to the fourth. He is on the team this year because of injuries.
