There has been no real news. He has been skating lightly and working out but nothing practice wise. Until they can increase his work load, this will be the extent of what he does.

As to your question on whether he will return or not, I believe he will. If there is a setback than that changes things but I think that if he wasn't going to return, they would not have him skating. I still think he's another 2 months away probably (at least) but the fact that he hasn't shut down is a positive sign. I believe he said himself that this one isn't nearly as bad as the one last year

Latest update-ish report from Bylsma today:

    On Crosby:
I don’t have an update for you besides that he is exercising. What that is in terms of heart rate and activity is different on different days. That’s where Sid is at right now in his rehab.
Like Tomahawk I believe Crosby will return but when that is anyone's guess.

Also i dont know how good this source is but a friend of mine his girlfriends friend brother works for the medical staff and is saying Crosby might have Spinal Cord damage. I don't believe this at all but if it comes out to be true it would suck.

I posted that same article in the January game thread. I wasn't even thinking and should have posted it here

Wow, that is a grapevine if I have ever heard of one lol. Not that I don't trust you JRM but I'll reserve judgement until I hear so from Crosby or a team official. That is a lot of people for the news to travel through and like the gradeschool game "telephone," that information can get distorted quite easily. If it were true however, I don't know what that would mean return wise

Ya i dont think it is a credible source but i figured i would throw it out there. I expect him back this year. Even with spinal issues depending how bad he could play. I don't think it's true though.

I had once heard about the spinal cord injury on Crosby as well it was more on the upper vertebrae then lower which would make sense. I would guess it could be true think of a whiplash patient how they get their heads snapped back and can injure their vertebrae. So it could be plausible, I could see it being true. Some also believe that holistically speaking that with a spinal cord being out of place especially in the higher vertebrae it could cause a host of problems including the inability to heal quickly. This however has yet to be 100% proven from what I know. I do feel however that with more research I think we should concussion proof Sid the Kid by using exercise. I wish I had more connections with the Pens organization I would put Sid when he was healthier through a specialized lifting routine in order to help prevent further concussions. I would prescribe him that and a dose of Deer Antler Velvet to heal up quicker.

Well like we mentioned in the other thread, Crosby went to Atlanta today to visit the specialist he was seeing last year:

Not sure what to take from it, overall positive I guess. Not good hearing he is still having some issues but it goes on to say that Shero said this is a "good thing" and there was no setback after skating

    He is back in Pittsburgh:

Apparently he was skating in California recently but no other "real" news was given. Not sure if it is good or bad overall

Well looks like he did have a neck injury after all:

    http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/12028/1206729-100.stm

Not sure if it is significant at all considering it is fully healed but interesting regardless. I have no idea how that many doctors could miss it until now
