Just got home, saw the Bogaerts news, and jizzed. Great ****ing night!
SickelsThe Boston Red Sox promoted super-prospect Xander Bogaerts to Double-A Portland yesterday, and he went 2-for-5 with a homer in his debut. Previously, he'd hit .302/.378/.505 with 15 homers, 43 walks, and 85 strikeouts in 384 at-bat for High-A Salem. He ranked 10th in the Carolina League in OPS, a fine season and especially impressive for a 19-year-old.
Although he's very young, I don't think it's a massive rush job given his performance this year. Even if he struggles, there's only three weeks left in the season and getting his feet wet in Double-A could help his development next year. In addition to the hitting, he's settled down defensively, making improvements with his reliability. His range at shortstop isn't terrific and I anticipate that he'll end up at third base in the long run, although I'd leave him at shortstop as long as possible.
I had him at a Grade B+ pre-season and see him as a Grade A- now. Depending on end-of-year reports, a straight Grade A is not out of the question. That would likely put him in the Top 10 prospects in all of baseball.

weeiAccording to Baseball America, the Red Sox have signed 16-year-old Venezuelan pitcher Dedgar Jimenez for a signing bonus of $175,000.
The report states that Jimenez stands at 6-foot-3, 254 pounds and possesses a fastball that has been clocked at 88-89 mph. He had been working out at the Dominican Republic at La Academia and has been trained by Felix Olivo.
Damn Machado hit two bombs tonight. So far hes looked crazy good.
JBJr really struggling.

What else does Brentz need to do to get a promotion?
Signature removed because **** is a dodging filter
Keury De La Cruz .899 OPS in 414 AB's at Greenville, needs a promotion too.

Brentz is really streaky. His approach is pretty bad. He chases bad pitches and struggles with breaking balls. He'll start next year in Pawtucket but i think they want him to keep on working on his approach in Portland for the rest of the year. Hey, if it helps him to become a more disciplined hitter go ahead and keep him there for now. Its obvious that he can hit though. If he isnt traded i bet he comes up next june or july.
