Lecavalier for Cammalleri and a draft pick or 2 this summer? (throw in Kostitsyn)
Kostitsyn is an UFA this summer, so he doesn't garner squat.
Lecavalier 3 years ago....yeah, I wanted to see that deal done, but no go. Lecavalier now? For Cammalleri ..I would do it. TB would have to take another contract to even out the money some, and maybe you throw in a pick or so for them.
Still not the top tier forward needed, but a home-grown guy so to speak, would help appease the masses....
There may still be time left, but this team as it stands right now, is not a play-off team, and is slowly fading. Unless there is a big turn around in play, and the guys who have been struggling, well, pretty much the entire team, pick up their game, they are going nowhere fast.
When you are winnning coming in the third and you are unable to shut down the opponents as you did in the first two periods and lose, it will be impossible for your team to make the playoffs.
Big time hit the panic button...While I'm staying relaxed because we won tonight, the chances of us making it to the playoffs are extremely slim..At this point, we can only pray that management shapes the team up and fixes our problems, because I don't know what it is, but the chemistry and passion from our players seems pretty dead.
And why are they winning now? 9 points in two months is a lot to make up. Tonight could be the season.
It's hard to do a total re-build in a market like Montreal, and sell it to the fan-base.
Not to say that isn't what is needed, and I mean from the groundfloor right up to the penthouse, this team needs a complete overhaul, but again, there would be hell to pay, and it would be a tough sell.
This team has started to show some signs of life, but may be too little too late. They play 3 out of their next four at home against, Boston, New Jersey and Carolina this evening, as well as a road game against Buffalo. They need 3 out of 4. The NJ game is the one they really have to knuckle down and take. Carolina, they should be able to handle, and Buffalo, well, you never know..........
