Didn't stop them when the Jays were winning division titles on the regular. Doesn't stop guys from going to NY where the taxes are pretty steep as opposed to a state like Florida (granted I'm sure they all have accountants pulling strings all over the place, but the point remains).

Realistically, how much better is Pujols than Gonzalez? A win? Two seems like a stretch. Obviously he'd make a pretty huge difference, but better than the Yanks or Sox? Not without some more tinkering.

I'm not talking about the trade with Red...I'm talking about asking Votto's agent if his client would take a extension....maybe even dollar amounts....IF we THEN spoke to the Reds. Can't really talk to the Reds if Votto...for some reason didn't want to play in his home town.

However...to answer your question. I'd do a Votto for Ricky...but the Reds would need to send Hamilton too....maybe more as Ricky's a ace and locked up cheap for the next few years.

Then AA can focus on trading for Aces.
