    Who's hot and who's not?

Salt Lake Bees 1st Place 7-4

    Hot

    OF Mike Trout H-AB 17-45 Avg .378 HR 1 2B 1 3B 3 OBP .442 SLG .556 SB 3 CS 1

Trout is off to a blazing start. He has started the season with at least one hit in each of his first 11 games, including seven multi hit games. Six of Trouts starts have come at DH, three in center field, and two in left field. Trout caught the flu and lost 12lbs during spring training, likely why he has spent so much time at DH while he regains his strength and puts his weight back on.

    SP Garrett Richards IP 21 H 12 ER 5 ERA 2.14 K 21 BB 4 GO/AO 1.56 BAA .162

Richards, like Trout, has been phenomenal to start the season. Richards is averaging 7 innings and just under 2 earned runs per start. He is striking out batters at a good rate and not allowing many walks. He is getting batters out on the ground, which is very important in the pacific coast league where the ball tends to carry more.

    RP Ryan Brasier IP 5 H 2 ER 0 ERA 0.00 K 6 BB 0 GO/AO 0.67 BAA .111

The Bees closer Ryan Brasier has been lights out to start the season. He has only two saves but has not allowed an earned run in five innings, and has only allowed two hitters to reach base. One of Brasier's biggest weaknesses is he walks more batters then you would like from a relief pitcher, but so far to start the season his command has been great.

    Not

    SP Eric Hurley IP 8 H 9 ER 10 ERA 11.25 K 3 BB 5 GO/AO 1.10 BAA .300

Hurley is on his way to becoming a journey man. After spending six seasons with the Rangers, Hurley signed as a minor league free agent with Angels. Scioscia gave him the chance to earn a spot in the rotation, although his chances were slim to none. He has given up more than an earned run per inning and is off to a horrible start.

    Arkansas Travelers 4th Place 3-7 4.0 GB

    RP Caleb Graham IP 2.2 H 8 ER 7 ERA 23.62 K 2 BB 2 GO/AO 0.50 BAA .500

Graham has been terrible to start the season. Opponents are hitting .500 off of him and he is giving up over 2 earned runs every inning. Last season in Advanced Single-A Graham allowed a total of 15 earned runs in 36.1 innings, he is half way to that in just 2.2 innings pitched.

    C Carlos Ramirez H-AB 1-15 Avg .067 HR 0 2B 0 OBP .067 SLG .067 SB 0 CS 0

Ramirez has gotten just four starts out of 10 games for the Travelers. He only has one hit in 15 at bats, also with no walks to his name. The jump from Advanced Single-A to Double-A is the hardest a hitter will encounter in the minor leagues. Hopefully once he gets adjusted he will pick up where he left off last season.

    RP Bobby Cassevah IP 4.0 H 3 ER 0 ERA 23.62 K 3 BB 2 GO/AO 6.00 BAA .231

Cassevah has been rehabbing with 66ers and it appears that things are going good. In four innings he has yet to allow a run and he continues to get a lot of outs on the ground. I dont know how close he is to returning or whether or not he will be with the big league club when he does, but it seems like should be headed to Anaheim or Salt Lake soon.

    SP Donn Roach IP 13.0 H 8 ER 1 ERA 0.69 K 10 BB 1 GO/AO 5.50 BAA .182

Roach was the Angels 3rd round pick back in 2010 and he is showing why the Angels drafted him so high. He has shown great command walking only one batter in 13 innings. He is getting tons of outs on the ground, something that is very important in the Cal League.

    2B Taylor Lindsey H-AB 7-35 Avg .200 HR 0 2B 2 OBP .282 SLG .314 SB 1 CS 0

Lindsey is off to a slow start, especially facing lefties. He has only one hit in 13 AB versus southpaws. Some positives from Lindsey are that he already has four walks, last year he finished the season with 13 and that he is hitting right handers pretty good at .273.

    SP Austin Wood IP 10.0 H 4 ER 1 ERA 0.90 K 15 BB 3 GO/AO 7.00 BAA .118

Wood has been great in his first two starts. In his first start he went five innings one run on four hits while striking out 10, and in his last start he went five innings again but this time he did not allow a single hit. Wood will surely fly up all prospect lists and move quickly through the Angels system if he can stay healthy.

    3B Kaleb Cowart H-AB 14-39 Avg .359 HR 1 2B 3 OBP .419 SLG .564 SB 3 CS 1

Cowart has done it all so far this season, hitting for a high average, getting extra base hits, and stealing bases. Showing everybody why the Angels selected him 18th overall back in 2010. If Cowart can keep this up it wont be long until he joins the 66ers powerful lineup, which currently lacks a quality 3rd basemen

    C Abel Baker H-AB 4-25 Avg .160 HR 0 2B 2 OBP .214 SLG .240 SB 0 CS 0

Baker is really struggling with the stick to start the season. He is also struggling with the leather, he has already committed two errors in just six games. Last season he committed a total of three errors in 48 games.

    Sorry for no updates

    Quick run through

    Pitchers

    RHSP Trevor Bell IP 25.0 ERA 7.56 K 14 BB 15 BAA .369

Bell is currently on the DL, I would something was wrong with the way he was pitching.

    RHRP Jeremy Berg IP 28.1 ERA 4.76 K 25 BB 8 BAA .287

He has given up 4 ER in two different outings in his last 8 games, aside from those two games he has pitched good only allowing 2 ER.

    RHRP Ryan Brasier IP 22.1 ERA 3.22 K 26 BB 14 BAA .261

Brasier is the Bees closer, he has been pretty good this year but he is walking over 5 and a half batters every 9 innings.

    RHSP Eric Hurley IP 61.1 ERA 5.43 K 46 BB 28 BAA .269

    Minor league filler

    RHRP Kevin Jepsen IP 12.2 ERA 4.97 K 21 BB 6 BAA .239

Striking out a lot of guys but walking to many

    RHRP Kevin Johnson IP 23.1 ERA 6.17 K 11 BB 5 BAA 3.51

He should be in Double-A right now, he is clearly over matched in Triple.

    RHSP Eddie McKiernan IP 2 ERA 36.00 K 1 BB 2 BAA .688

McKiernan was called up to Triple-A when Weaver went on the DL and Richards was called up. Like Johnson McKiernan clearly isnt ready for Triple-A. I also dont agree with him being in the rotation, he needs to be in the pen.

    LHRP Matt Meyer IP 18.2 ERA 4.34 K 16 BB 10 BAA 3.00

Meyer was a guy I thought could be help in the Angels pen this year, but he has no control and isnt striking out guys like he was last season.

    LHSP Brad Mills IP 40.2 ERA 3.76 K 25 BB 14 BAA .268

Who would have thought that Jeff Mathis would have more IP in the major leagues in 2012 than the guy he was traded for. Mills is currently on the DL but is pitching pretty good, we should see him at some point this season.

    RHP David Pauley IP 24.2 ERA 2.19 K 18 BB 5 BAA .265

The Angels designated Pauley for an assignment and he cleared waivers so he is back in Triple-A. He has pitched pretty good, but if we see him with the big league club again that means things are bad.

    RHRP Francisco Rodriguez IP 27.1 ERA 5.60 K 19 BB 14 BAA .275

    Garbage.

    RHSP Matt Shoemaker IP 66.2 ERA 5.40 K 45 BB 17 BAA .286

Shoemaker has great command, but he has already given up 12 HR which is pretty bad.

    LHSP Greg Smith IP 24.2 ERA 4.38 K 17 BB 8 BAA 2.47

Smith had a solid year in the major leagues back in 2008 with the A's, he was then traded to the Rockies with Carlos Gonzalez for Matt Holliday (LOL). He was originally in Double-A. Minor league filler.

    RHRP Sean White IP 7.1 ERA 23.32 K 1 BB 9 BAA .450

At this point it would probably be better to run the snow boarder out there. 19 ER in 7.1 innings. Minor league filler.

    Catchers

    Hank Conger AVG .338 HR 2 2B 5 OBP .368 SLG .508 SB 1 CS 0

He has played 2 games since coming off of the DL, hopefully he joins the Angels soon. He only has 3 walks on the season.

    Robinzon Diaz AVG .271 HR 2 2B 7 OBP .292 SLG .447 SB 1 CS 1

The Angels called up Hester over this guy so he must be bad.

    Infielders

    INF Andrew Romine AVG .323 HR 3 2B 5 OBP .380 SLG .409 SB 15 CS 5

Romine has been pretty good this year, walking at a decent rate, stealing a lot of bases. Possibly the new Izturis next season.

    3B Luis Jimenez AVG .296 HR 4 2B 13 OBP .321 SLG .487 SB 7 CS 1

Jimenez was on the DL for a while, but has picked up right where he left off. Jimenez is fast for a power hitter. He has no patience though. Possibly our 3rd basemen next season, we will likely see him at some point this season.

    INF Adam Heether

    Minor league filler

    INF Ed Lucas

    Minor League filler

    1B Paul McAnulty

This guy played 9 games for us back in 2010

    1B Efren Navarro AVG .276 HR 3 2B 11 OBP .335 SLG .387 SB 1 CS 0

Has about as much pop as Reggie Willits. Very good defensively at 1B.

    Outfielders

    OF Cory Aldridge AVG .238 HR 4 2B 2 OBP .256 SLG .571 SB 2 CS 0

OF Aldridge played with us back in 2010 as well. We picked him back up after Calhoun got called up to the big leagues.

    OF Doug Deeds

    Minor League filler.

    OF Drew Heid AVG .205 HR 0 2B 1 OBP .300 SLG .227 SB 4 CS 1

No reason for this guy to be in Triple-A, has only played 32 games above Single-A

    OF Matt Long AVG .228 HR 2 2B 3 OBP .277 SB 5 CS 0

Has struggled since being called up from Double-A. Has also been playing some second base.

    Double-A

    Pitchers

    RHSP Orangel Arenas IP 57.2 ERA 4.84 K 35 BB 14 BAA .319

Good control, but thats about it

    RHRP Ysmael Carmona IP 1 ERA 0.00 K 3 BB 0 BAA .400

Missed all of 2011, made his first apperance yesterday.

    RHRP Steven Geltz IP 25.1 H 13 K 37 BB 6 BAA .148

Geltz has been phenomenal this season. Strikeouts through the roof, walk rate low. He just got called up to Triple-A. Probably the next RP called up to the big leagues.

    RHRP Caleb Graham IP 16.2 ERA 4.86 K 19 BB 7 BAA .314

Graham got off to a very very slow start. In his last 12.2 innings he has only allowed 2 ER (1.42 ERA) and has struck out 16 batters while only walking 3.

    RHSP John Hellweg IP 57 ERA 3.95 K 44 BB 40 BAA .280

Not the season I was hoping for. Strikeouts way down, walks even higher.

    RHRP Matt Oye IP 22.2 ERA 3.57 K 19 BB 12 BAA .258

    No command.

    RHSP Ariel Pena IP 57.2 ERA 3.43 K 55 BB 21 BAA .229

Finally someone essiting, Little Mermaid Ariel Pena. Strikeouts are down but his control has greatly improved. Very good fastball/slider combo.

    RHRP Mike Piazza IP 27 ERA 3.33 K 27 BB 13 BAA .221

Piazza is having a nice season, needs to get his walks down before he moves onto Triple-A

    LHRP Dakota Robinson IP 17 ERA 4.76 K 13 BB 5 BAA .227

He should still be in Advanced Single-A.

    RHRP Chris Scholl IP 10 ERA 7.20 K 11 BB 2 BAA .295

Missed all of April with an injury. Has already given up 3 HR.

    RHSP A.J. Schugel IP 63 ERA 3.29 K 48 BB 29 BAA .224

Schugel is having a solid season, doesnt have to high of a ceiling though.

    LHRP Andrew Taylor IP 23.1 ERA 3.86 K 23 BB 5 BAA .287

Finally they put Taylor back in the bullpen and its paying off. Striking out a lot of guys command greatly improved.

    RPRP Daniel Tillman IP 14.2 ERA 10.43 K 15 BB 13 BAA .264

I think Tillman has some kind of injury with how horrible he has been.

    Catchers

    Jose Jimenez AVG .188 HR 0 2B 1 OBP .278 SLG .250 SB 0 CS 0

    Hes not very good

    Alberto Rosario AVG .200 HR 1 2B 4 OBP .250 SLG .300 SB 0 CS 2

    Ditto.

    Carlos Ramirez AVG .248 HR 0 2B 4 OBP .339 SLG .305 SB 0 CS 0

Ramirez got off to a very slow start, he hit .091 in April, which made me regret rating him so highly. He has since turned things around, his line for May .324 AVG, .420 OBP, .412 SLG. Hopefully he can keep it up.

    Infielders

    1B Casey Haerther AVG .284 HR 4 2B 6 OBP .298 SLG .383 SB 0 CS 0

4 BB in 183 AB. GTFO!

    2B Ryan Mount AVG .258 HR 2 2B 2 OBP .294 SLG .387 SB 2 BB 1

If this guy could have stayed healthy he could very well be a major leauger right now, but he is more fragile then Izturis juggling China.

    INF Renny Osuna AVG .260 HR 0 2B 11 OBP .306 SLG .325 SB 7 BB 3

    Minor league filler.

    INF Darwin Perez AVG .181 HR 2 2B 4 OBP .266 SLG .251 SB 6 BB 4

I dont know what the hell happened to this guy. He put up great numbers in this same league last season but has been horrible so far. He is a great fielder so he has a future atleast as a backup.

    SS Jean Segura AVG .282 HR 3 2B 5 OBP .329 SLG .378 SB 21 CS 5

Segura got off to a slow start but has since picked it up. He is stealing a lot of bases this year, he just needs to work on drawing more walks and staying healthy.

    INF Jimmy Swift AVG .217 HR 0 2B 2 OBP .280 SLG .304 SB 0 CS 0

Minor League filler. Should probably go back to singing duets with his sister.

    Outfielders

    Pitchers

    RHSP Lay Batista IP 57.0 ERA 3.79 K 32 BB 25 BAA .230

Solid year so far, but his strikeouts are to minimal to take him seriously.

    LHRP Buddy Boshers IP 28.1 ERA .064 K 33 BB 12 BAA .168

I was surprised when I saw how good this guy was doing, strikeout numbers are very good, and numbers are decent. I would like to see him in Double-A soon.

    LHRP Alexander Burkard IP 7.1 ERA 2.45 K 9 BB 4 BAA .241

    This guy is tall, 6'8"

    RHRP Eric Cendejas IP 15.1 ERA 2.93 K 13 BB 2 BAA .233

He has quietly put up good numbers throughout his minor league career.

    RHSP Manny Correa IP 53.1 ERA 3.38 K 33 BB 9 BAA .290

He pitched good out of the pen last season after a couple years of struggling in the rotation. So I dont know why he is in the rotation again.

    LHSP Ryan Crowley IP 27.2 ERA 5.86 K 28 BB 9 BAA .339

The strikeouts are there but thats about it.

    LHRP Manuel Correa IP 24 ERA 3.75 K 22 BB 14 BAA .188

Why can none of our prospects throw strikes?

    RHRP Bryant George IP 23 ERA 5.09 K 21 BB 9 BAA .330

    LHRP Tyler Kehrer IP 22 ERA 4.09 K 25 BB 16 BAA .268

Damn this team has a lot of lefties. And look at that another pitcher who cant throw strikes.

    RHRP Baudilio Lopez IP 25.2 ERA 7.71 K 20 BB 9 BAA .364

    Good job at nothing.

    LHSP Nick Maronde IP 35 ERA 2.83 K 35 BB 9 BAA .217

Finally another guy to get essited about and he hasnt made a start in about a month because he is on the DL . Get healthy and keep doing what you were doing.

    RHP Fabio Martinez-Mesa

Has been injured all season, I want to say its his foot?

    RHRP Kevin Nabors IP 17.1 ERA 6.75 K 22 BB 12 BAA .321

    Nice control buddy.

    LHSP Max Russell IP 65.1 ERA 4.68 K 42 BB 20 BAA .312

    Catchers

    Jett Bandy AVG .193 HR 3 2B 6 OBP .263 SLG .300 SB 0 CS 1

    This guy isnt ready offensively.

    Infielders

    SS Jean Almanzar AVG .232 HR 1 2B 4 OBP .264 SLG .326 SB 2 CS 1

    This guy isnt very good.

    SS Brandon Brewer AVG .214 HR 0 2B 3 OBP .313 SLG .268 SB 0 CS 0

This guy knows how to walk, but unfortunately doesnt know how to hit.

    1B C.J. Cron AVG .288 HR 7 2B 11 OBP .336 SLG 454 SB 0 CS 3

Cron was horrible in April hitting .202, but he hit .351 in May. He isnt hitting as many HR or walking as much as I anticipated but he is coming around.

    SS Rolando Gomez AVG .233 HR 0 2B 2 OBP .313 SLG .279 SB 1 CS 1

Just like Mr. Brewer, if only he knew how to hit.

    3B Brian Hernandez AVG .306 HR 2 2B 5 OBP .374 SLG .377 SB 2 CS 2

This guy is putting up good numbers, he knows how to hit and walk, but apparently cant hit for power.

    2B Taylor Lindsey AVG .280 HR 2 2B 8 3B 4 OBP .330 SLG .394 SB 1 CS 2

I wonder how many times a player has had 4 times as many triples as stolen bases.

    Outfielders

    Chris Giovinazzo AVG .119 HR 0 2B 0 OBP .213 SLG .167 SB 2 CS 0

    This guy looks creepy

    Brennan Gowens AVG .194 HR 0 2B 0 OBP .215 SLG .194 SB 0 CS 0

Reggie Willits is on steroids compared to this guy.

    Randal Grichuk AVG .250 HR 3 2B 10 OBP .284 SLG .384 SB 6 CS 0

His power is supposed to make up for his lack up patience, he has neither right now.

    Travis Witherspoon AVG .311 HR 5 2B 8 3B 5 OBP .381 SLG .459 SB 20 CS 6

Witherspoon has been awesome. 5 tool prospect. OF of Trout-Bourjos-Witherspoon =
