Segura missed a large portion of the season with a hamstring injury, aside from 2010 Segura has had a problem staying healthy something he needs to work on, if you can work on such a thing. When I was at spring training Segura was only DHing in the minor league games because of some arm injury, likely why we havent seen him in big league camp since mid March. Segura's transition to SS has gone great, he shows good range and has a strong and accurate throwing arm. Segura is quick and is a good base stealer, a year ago he stole 50 bases in 60 attempts (83%) and this last season he was 18 for 24 (75%). Segura doesnt have the best patience but its good enough to be a lead off hitter in the future. Segura has good power for a middle infielder, but he likely wont ever hit more than 15 HR at the major league level. Segura is headed to Double-A Arkansas where the biggest thing he needs to do is stay healthy and get a full season under his belt at SS. With Aybar possibly leaving in free agency Segura is very big to the Angels immediate future. Segura needs to be ready for the major leagues on Opening Day of 2013

Richards is a guy I like a lot and he was very good in 2011. The bad before the good, Richards strikeout rate dropped from 9.4 K/9 in 2010, to 6.5 in 2011, not something im really worried about, but it is definitely worth monitoring. Well the bad is out of the way now time for the good, Richards continued with his great command, actually improving on his 2.7 BB/9, down to 2.5 BB/9. Richards GO/AO dropped but still at a solid 1.36. Richards H/9 went the same way as his BB/9, down, in 2010 he gave up 8.2 H/9 and that number dropped to 7.7 H/9 in 2011 despite making the jump to Double-A. Richards was 7th out of all Texas League pitchers in IP, and for the second straight season threw over 140 innings, so he shouldnt have much of a problem jumping up to around 175 if he were to pitch full time in the big leagues. Richards has a very nice repertoire of pitches, a fastball that sits around 95 MPH considered a plus pitch, a slider that is considered a plus pitch, and a 12/6 curve ball considered a plus pitch. He also throws a change up that is an above average pitch but not quite a plus pitch YET. Richards had a pretty good spring, but it still remains to be seen if he will be the Angels 5th starter or not. Even if he isnt the 5th starter to start the season its just a matter of time before he is.

When he isnt dressing up like Lady Gaga, Mike Trout is pretty good at baseball. If I were to point out anything bad in Trout's numbers it would be nitpicking, and im not a nitpicker. Trout really does not have any flaws in his game, he hits for a high average, draws a lot of walks, hits for good power, steals bases at a high rate, plays a good center field, has a solid arm, and is super fast on the base paths. If the Angels didnt have a log jam in the OF he would have been a starter on a contending team at 19 and a half, the Angels do have a log jam in the OF so Trout likely wont be a starter on a contending team until he is 21. Trout is headed to Triple-A Salt Lake where he will put up amazing numbers. If and when one of our starting OF goes on the 15 day DL, which is inevitable, Trout will likely be in Anaheim of LA to fill in for them. Trout will be up for good in 2013 when Hunter leaves for free agency. Oh ya Trout proved he was human this spring when he caught some kind of illness (flu or something) which made him lose 10lbs and only record 6 AB with the big league club, he is better now, thankfully it wasnt the Kotchman mono.
