He not only has unreal FO% but it looks like he has also helped Grabo and Bozak with their faceoffs also!!
Love him in face offs. Below average player though IMO
he playin well, the PK for the leafs are lookin better and havin him in the circle for draws is huge. great pickup!!
For what he is, I've liked him. His FO's keep him as a valuable 4th line player, even if he lacks in most other facets. If he can keep up the FOs I will like have having him in the line-up this year.

I don't think he's below average at allHe's a 4th line centre who can win an important faceoff and kill penalties. I'd actually say he's an above average player (for his role) simply because he's one of the top in the league at faceoffs and can actually kill penalties and not be a liability.
Nice to finally have a guy like this on the team. Need those type of guys to win games.
Having control of the puck off a faceoff 2/3 of the time makes like a lot easier on a team. I find myself paying way more attention to the draws now that he is around and its unreal how quick he is. His ability as was pointed out could go a lot way towards helping the other guys learn some tricks to gain control off the draw and have the Leafs attacking more often than defending.
Last year the Leafs were 15th (50.5%) in faceoffs. So far we are tied for 2nd (56.8%). Steckel is now at 69.1 %, last year he was 62.3%. If you're going to be a 4th line center, it's a pretty important skill to bring to a team.
hey BB, good acquisition![]()
He's been a better pickup then I thought he would be. Great faceoff msn who can kill penalties and is a good defender. That's exactly what a fourth line center should bring to the table. While we lack true stars up front, we have enough scoring in the top 6 and finally have a solid and reliable bottom 6 who does their job.
He's taken alot of heat off of the defensemen in our own end. We've always been a team horrible at getting the puck out and we were even worse when we were hemmed in. Starting with the puck right away the D have time to make a decision instead of just firing the puck away because they're under pressure. He's no more than a fourth liner, but he's one role player who plays his role to a tee. Last night watching him and Bozak on draws was awesome.
