Bingo. Demanding a trade in public really hurts the value. Heatley was traded for Cheechoo, Michalek, and a 2nd rounder. I'm sure they could have gotten much more value if he didn't go public. Cheechoo was useless, and Ottawa came out losing big time.
Look at other demanding trade players, and you can see the value isn't there. I'm sure Columbus could have gotten more for Filatov too.
Phoenix shouldn't be in a rush to trade Turris. They have until December before he's out for the year. I'm Turris would rather play for the 'Yotes instead of not playing. If they find the right deal, with it being around fair, they'll do it.
