I used to wonder the same thing bro, I usually frequent a baseball card shop called Au Sports over on Touhy in Niles (closest shop to my house in Wrigleyville) and I talk with the owners. Their shops are usually not very profitable, they sell a TON of stuff online though. Shops are just there to get the occasional hit and to store their merchandise.
