I'd agree with Duncan Number 1, thats a done deal,

#2 is also really a done deal:

    Karl Malone-

    Career accomplishments:
    - basketball Hall of Fame
    - fourth all-time in games played in NBA history
    - second all-time in minutes played in NBA history
    - second all-time in field goals made in NBA history
    - all-time leader in free throws made & attempted in NBA history
    - all-time leader in defensive rebounds in NBA history- sixth all-time in total rebounds in NBA history
    - tenth all-time in steals in NBA history
    - second all-time in points in NBA history

Besides his durability, that counts you know, he was a damn good passer, it wasn't always Stockton setting up Malone you know, he can pass really well too. But when you have a guard like Stockton who has the ball often its difficult to mount up assists.

Its like saying Kareem wasn't a good passer? Well hello he had Magic controlling the ball?

Those giving KG the huge edge on defense, well not a big one, did you really watch Malone play? Those steals he got, well I think thats playing defense? He was an intimidating force, the only thing he missed in his career was a title. Malone was the complete package, a big and strong guy who could battle in the post and for rebounds. But also a supremely athletic guy who could explode his way to the rim and step out and hit the jumper. It made him an amazing player and a perfect complement to Stockton.

    KG, is my third

    Charles is next at #4

And rounding the top 5 is Pettit:

One could say that Pettit was the first ever power forward. The term did not exist till he played it. A beast of a player - the guy was the first to get 20,000 points, and his average of 16.2 rpg is behind only Chamberlain and Russell. He beat Russell for a championship, and scored 50 in Game Six.

Dirk by the way on my list is even behind McHale and Hayes, but he still has time to jump over them.

Actually 2-5 is up for debate even 2-6 if you add Pettit.

I'd like to know how everyone knows that Malone would have gotten a ring if not for Jordan when some other good teams in the east lost to the same man. There is no guarantee they would have beaten the Pacers or Heat. Malone could have still came in second.

    Duncan
    Barkley
    KG
    Malone
    McHale

Dirks somewhere from 6-10 IMO. If the question was offense only, Dirk would be top 5, probably 3-ish.

On counting offensive stats maybe. Check the rate stats and the defense. Barkley doesn't rate next to Duncan overall. Rings too.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”
