I have a feeling he's going to get screwed again but you never know. For sure he belongs there but he belonged there 5 years ago.

Word emerges of the 10 modern-era finalists for the Hall of Fame
The official announcement hasn’t been made, but several of the Hall of Fame voters have disclosed via Twitter the names of the modern-era finalists who progressed from the final 15 to the final 10.

Still alive after the first cut were Michael Strahan, Bill Parcells, Larry Allen, Jerome Bettis, Cris Carter, Charles Haley, Jonathan Ogden, Andre Reed, Warren Sapp, and Aeneas Williams.

Out are Art Modell, Eddie DeBartolo, Kevin Greene, Tim Brown, and Will Shields.

We wonder whether Brown will claim that Bill Callahan sabotaged Brown’s candidacy.

Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News said that the candidacy of Parcells was debated by a full hour.

Report: Dean Blandino will be next head of officiating
With Carl Johnson stepping down as the NFL’s vice president of officiating after the Super Bowl to become one of the league’s first full-time game officials, the league needed a new man to head up the department.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Dean Blandino will be that man. Blandino is currently league’s director of officiating and has headed up all aspects of the instant replay system for some time. He worked two Super Bowls as a replay official and has never been an on-field official in the NFL.

According to Rapoport, Blandino impressed in his interview with his knowledge of the rule book reportedly standing out. That seems like a fairly important skill for a guy hoping to be in charge of enforcing it, so it’s good to hear that Blandino’s got that under control.

Blandino has long been considered the favorite for the job. It seems that conventional wisdom hit the nail on the head this time.

I mean the 49ers did more than a few things to deserve to lose the game, they had some really really conservative play calling, running on 3rd and 15 and so on but the officials should seriously be out on the street, where we sent the replacement guys. I saw Anquan Boldin headbutt one of the 9ers DBs after a play, I forget who it was but someone jumped on Joe Staley after he'd been knocked to the ground and was wailing on him, Cary Williams should have been ejected from the game on the spot, this is **** that would draw big-time fines in the regular season (or flags and ejections in a correctly officiated game). The Chris Culliver for the 9ers did get away with pass interference on one play, but I saw more than a little bit of that from the Ravens and that non-call at the end was pathetic. You could try to say that Crabtree was trying to push off, he was trying to shake off the DB who was draped all over him. That plus the holding calls at the end really made this one of the worst Super Bowls that I've ever watched.

One thing I will say though, I'll be the first to tell you that he's not the player he used to be, but Moss must be the very last on Kap's progressions because there were so many times he was wide open down the field and he's not even looked at. There was a nice 39 yard pass to him but he could have easily had like 4 catches and over 100 yards in that game.
