can't go wrong with any of the big 3 or 4 (lou's, ginos and giordano's) as far as deep dish goes. but it is the family neighborhood places (and nearly every neighborhood has one or two) that are the real finds. none of that triangular new york foldy crap. because...as everyone knows...real thin crust pizza is cut in squares, right, guys? but don't limit yourself to pizza.

    if on the northwest side...

kings 2 (foster and milwaukee) for gyros and the best damned onion rings you'll ever have.

boborino's (on central just north of addison) for the best subs (try the italian with double meat)

and la palapita (on milwaukee just north of montrose) for the best burritos. the place is a dump but you'll never forget the food. and you'll never be so glad to be burping up steak burrito 3 hours later. you will savor every moment.

suzies (on montrose, just west of elston) for great french fries.

    you will not be disappointed

Giordano's and Burt's Place. Both awesome.

Are there other places as good as those in Chicago? If so, I'm curious for those who actually live in Chicago how you would rank your top 5 pizza places?
Actually pretty disappointed with most of the responses on here. Starting to make me wonder if any of you are actually from Chicago. Here's the deal MJ, because while all of these places are similar they are all very different too. I won't put them in any particular order but these are definately my favorites. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Gino's East (Sweeter crust than most places)
    Edwardo's
    Giordano's
    Uno's or Due's
Lou Malnati's (Not my favorite of the group but still very very good.)
    Chicago's

Someone mentioned D'agostinos which is on the north side and they are great but I think they only serve thin crust. As far as those shmucks that suggested Connie's or Bacci's I wouldn't be friends with them anymore and I am fairly certain they know nothing about Chicago pizza.

If you are looking for good Dog's or Beefs I would check out:
    Portillo's
Weiner Circle, its on Clark street in LP (George Clooney's favorite restaurant in Chicago. Also, If you go late night order a chocolate shake and you will get a surprise)
    Al's Beef
Five guys (I suggest the gyros)
Buona Beef is good too but definately the lower tier.

If you are in Wrigleyville late night there is a mexican joint right past sports corner on Addison that has AWESOME chicken nachos. Hope this helps

Burts is incredible. You guys should really head over there if you haven't. The carmelized crust is delicious. One of the best pizzas in the world.
