    Whats next?????????

The Sabres upgraded their D, but offensively is Leino enough? He is not a true center and we will have to wait and see if he can play the position during the season. They have Boyes still, but he doesnt like to play Center.

They somewhat tried to pursue Richards, but they didnt go all out, because they got word that he never would come to Buffalo. If Roy gets hurt, Hecht becomes our number 1 center. Whats next? Are they really going to go into the season this weak at the position. All experts say Leino is a good 2nd line winger, is Darcy nuts thinking he can become a number 1 center?

Leino actually is a natural center...he was switched to the wing position when he played for Detroit and that just continued on when he went to the Flyers. He much prefers to play center instead of the wing and he is better as a center because he is also defensive minded which you have to be in order to play the center position. Boyes on the other hand is a natural winger and does his best work at that position, which we saw last year when he was first traded to Buffalo. The goals he scored were from the wing position and it was not until he was switched to center where he seemed kind of lost in the mix. More than likely there is no question that Roy will head into this season as the number 1 center followed by Leino and Goose. 4th line is still up in the air and could still be addressed via trade or cheap free agent.

I think there will definetly be a trade. Like I said, if Roy or Leino get hurt, theres no way that Darcy will be confident having Hecht and Gausted moving up on the depth chart. And if a trade is going to be made, say good bye to Ennis. Theres no way a team will give us a stud Center for a package of crap. They will want something good in return and Ennis might be that player teams will want.

Yeah, trade Gerbe and watch half the fans skip watching the games.

Although this is true, it does not make me feel comfortable. If he was a standout Center, and a true #1 at that, he would not have been moved to Winger...

Gerbe was just re-signed to a 3 or 4 yr deal, meaning this leaves Ennis the odd man out as trade bait.

I agree that Leino until proven makes me a little nervous at center as well...and to add on to your Gerbe deal resigning don't be so sure about Gerbe being off the trade block...Setoguchi signed a contract with San Jose just to be shipped out the very next day. But of the two little men Gerbe is the one that enjoys getting his hands a little more dirty than Ennis.
