    Blazers Interested In Jose Calderon

March 8 at 7:26pm CST By Sean Highkin

With point guard Raymond Felton underperforming, the Trail Blazers are looking to shore up their backcourt ahead of next week's trade deadline. And while their name has been in the mix for names such as Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo, Luke Ridnour, and Steve Blake, Hasan Alanam of Canada.com points to their reported interest in Raptors point guard Jose Calderon and explores several trade scenarios.

Alanam mentions possible trades involving Felton and either Gerald Wallace or Jamal Crawford, with Portland possibly also taking back Linas Klezia. In one scenario, the Timberwolves participate in a three-team deal with Malcolm Lee going to Portland and Anthony Randolph going to Toronto.
I didn't know if this was posted or discussed, but I just noticed this on HoopsRumors and thought I'd share. I'd imagine we receive Crawford in exchange for sending out Lee and Randolph. Personally, I like what we have and wouldn't mind standing pat. Balkis' health has made me a believer in waiting for the offseason were we can then take advantage of our own expirings.

Not a huge Bogut fan but evidently they are looking to move him. Would be a GREAT rotantion if he was healthy. Would evidnetly have to take Jackson in the deal so as unlikely as it may be here is my stab......

Wolves recieve Bogut, Jackson, Harris and Laur

Buck recieve Beasley, Milicic, Miller, Randolph and Ellington.

I know it's unlikely but might make both teams better.

Reports that the Timberwolves are in talks with the Blazers regarding a Luke Ridnour-Jamal Crawford swap is bogus. While the eighth best team in the West definitely can use a starting scoring guard, Ridnour is going nowhere. New York Post

    And for kicks:
Al Jefferson thinks he’s finally figured out the NBA game. “Hey, it’s taken me eight years to realize that if I pass the ball outside and guys hit open shots, it helps free me up,” Jefferson. “I guess better late than never.” Yahoo! Sports
unbelievable it took him this long...

Thats a pretty steep price. I can almost guarantee we will not trade Ridnour this season.

I was thinking the same thing PJ, considering we could have just signed Crawford in the off season now we would be giving up a decent player and a 1st round pick.

No thanks, not only can we not give up Luke, which is as good at the 2 anyhow, and better at point then Crawford, but we dont even have a #1 pick this year, and we better not be trading away future picks, we need them for depth on the bench for the future.
Now why did the Wolves do that?

The trading deadline is always so entertaining. A team like the Blazers are "demanding" that they get a solid player AND a 1st round pick for Jamal Crawford. The reality is, that Crawford is an aging 2-guard, who can (and will) opt out of his contract at the end of the year, because he sure as heck doesn't want to play for the Blazers anymore the way they treated him this year.

Not many teams are going to throw the farm at a guy like that, for a 2 month rental. Portland will end up taking whatever they can, as they will lose him in the offseason anyways.

Same thing with Golden State, which happens to be the only team that views Monta Ellis as a superstar NBA player. They keep demanding a king's ransom for him, when the reality is that if they can get some decent young guys, and more importantly, dump his huge albatross salary, they would be winning huge in the end.

Just like the Rams thinking that they will get three number one picks for RGIII. That will not happen either, but it's the beauty of the deadline. Once in awhile you can scare people into overpaying.
