well that brings up the question, is it easier to teach someone or is it easier to make someone care.

I would say teach but who knows, get the right leaders and I'm sure getting someone to care wouldn't be too hard. Depending on how stubborn the person was.

In all this talk of Power Forwards, I'm really holding out some hope that we make a deal for Josh Smith. He's a solid defender, and would pair well with Lopez's offensive game.

Quick note: Howard is obviously the ideal superstar target regardless of position, but I still don't see Orlando taking a New Jersey/Brooklyn deal over other potential deals, and even if he reaches Free Agency, there's little reason to *expect* he'll pick Brooklyn.

All in all, it still seems too risky to hold out for Howard if other options are available, and we all know that Josh Smith is on the trade block and has listed the Nets on his short list of preferred destinations.

Here's a trade idea for Josh Smith that probably needs some work, but at least has a basic framework that I think benefits all 3 teams. It works here in the Trade Machine: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMa...radeId=42a4ysx

    Breakdown:

Nets get Josh Smith -- 'nuf said.

Hawks get Chris Kaman and Stephen Graham and maybe a pick from the Nets. Kaman gives them a true starting center, allowing them to move Horford to PF, something that they seem to be looking to do.

Clippers get Morrow, Damian James, Johan Petro, and maybe a pick from the Nets. The Clippers have been shopping Kaman hard and reportedly have been getting rejected. Given his decreasing value on the market, they could decide to trade him for this sort of package. Morrow gives them a nice outside shooting presence to work off of the Gordon-Griffin 1-2 punch, James gives them a nice prospect to pair with Aminu at the SF spot. But most of all, they get free up some cap space to give DeAndre Jordan a big contract.

We should trade for Orlando's starting center. I hear he's pretty good.

Of course. Nets get Josh Smith for almost nothing AND get rid of Johan Petro. GREAT trade for the Nets.

I like the idea of Smith at PF, he would have a career year playing next to Deron Williams.

Geez, every player has a career year when they play with Deron Williams.

Hard to believe Deron hasn't made it to the Finals yet.
