It would be nice, also heard we would only need to give up trade exception.

    Cavs: Gay
    Grizz: 14.6 trade exception

    Cavs: Smith
    Hawks: Hickson and Jamison

I think we may be able to get one of the two but not both. Rudy Gay seems unlikely unless the Griz have changed there tune.
Maybe Josh Smith? We should've drafted Smith back in 05' instead of Luke Jackson...

For the Cavs to even dream of negotiations with the the Grizz for Gay they would have to kiss #1 goodbye

if you ever in this world think any1 would give up the #1 overall pick for rudy gay then you are way to much of a biased grizz fan, rudy gay last year WHEN HEALTHY proved he was a legit allstar, but rudy gay is no superstar 19 ppg going to need at least 5 more ppg and some healthy seasons for that, rudy would be worth the 4 spot but not kyrie irving and it would be probably a trade exception and maybe a player like daniel gibson or some time of 6-8 man on the roster a role player ha rudy gay for the number 1 pick, only the clippers or twolves would do that one

What would you rather have, a proven player in Gay or an intriguing prospect in Irving. Don't forget, this is been dubbed by many to be one of the worst drafts in a while so trading #1 for Gay when Gay has at least proven himself on the professional level IMO is worth the risk. Then you could have the potential to trade #4 + a whole hell lot of players to ATL for Smith. Can be done ala Danny Ainge in Boston with KG.

If the Cavs could deal the #1 Gay then turn around & do this deal for Smith, the fans would literally **** themselves, not to mention Gilbert would be LOVED for the time being. I say if you can do it, JUST DO IT!!!

What happens if Cavs do get Gay AND Smith.

    Like what cavsbluejackets said..

    Cavs: Gay
Grizz: 14.6 trade exception and Ramon Sessions

    Cavs: Smith
    Hawks: Hickson and Jamison

Then they draft K. Irving with the #1... and somehow they still have the #4 and draft Enes Kanter.. Then WOW... that would be a Fantastic off-season for Cavs organization and fans. Good Luck guys on draft day and to your future!

    BOLD= Starters

    Kyrie Irving/Baron Davis/Daniel Gibson
    Anthony Parker/Daniel Gibson/Manny Harris
    Rudy Gay/Alonzo Gee/Christian Eyenga
    Josh Smith/Samardo Samuels/Luke Harangody/Anderson Varejao
    Enes Kanter/Anderson Varejao/Ryan Hollins/Semih Erden

I really can't understand why anyone would want the cavs to do this. Josh Smith has 25.6 mil for 2yrs and Rudy Gay just got a max contract. This would completely destroy our flexibility and it would make us a playoff team but nothing more, meaning it would also take us out of the lottery. Let's be honest, that team even with Kyrie isn't winning a title.

I know that it sucks to wait but OKC has developed a clear blueprint on how to build a title contender in a small market. You need 3 years of high draft picks and cap flexibility. The cavs need 2 more years of high lotto picks which is why I hope CLE takes Kyrie and Kanter. You can't try and get everything in one season or you'll end up worse off in the long run. Next year is loaded with forwards which is why the cavs need to take the best pg/c this year.

Hahahaha at the #1 for Rudy Gay. I realize you are a Grizzlies fan but you realize they have absolutely ZERO leverage to demand that pick right? Think logically for a second. You MUST resign Gasol and everyone knows that. With the playoffs Mayo had, you can resign him for cheaper than Gay but it is still going to cost you. You played well without Gay so you basically want to unload that bloated contract with the uncertainity of the new CBA. Might not appease your fan base but you arent getting much more than that trade exception for him if a deal happens.

Thankyou man, it's possible. I don't see the Grizz looking for much, Davis and Jamison to big contracts, Hickson wouldn't fit to IMO, so I see being the trade exception because they need cap. They might want the 4 or 32 pick but probably the 32 would work. Then witsmith you need him.

For the guy that said wait, and this wouldnt work.just look at the lineup and they have a lot of future picks from the Heat. A lot of firsts may not be high but still, we would have 2 first and could move up in the draft every yearwould be in a great spot. You say just playoffs, no, this would make the Hawks weaker, Celtics are almost done so I see it Magic, Bull, Heat and Cavs

Leverage??? The grizz will trade Mayo before the season starts and that will releive $7 mil off the books. Not to mention Shane has $7 mil off the books, and Marco Jaric's $7 mil contract expires. With Mayo gone we should be able to resign Gasol longterm. Gay does not need to be traded. Only way i see us trading him is if we get Derrick Williams.

Maybe the Cavs can trade #4 and fillers to the t-wolves for #2. Then trade #2 (derrick williams) for Rudy Gay?

We have played well without Rudy, but we played well when Mayo was suspended too. For those who think the Grizz are a better team without Gay during the playoffs are dumb. If we had Rudy in the okc series, we would have taken it from them easy

that seems to be pipe dream. The Grizz give up Gay for 14.6 mil trade exception and Ramon Sessions? I like sessions at backup point, and it would releive capspace to resign gasol (longterm) and resign Mayo next year, but we can get more for rudy then that

No, trust us. You will not get much for Gay, the Grizz front Office probably would Luke the 14.6. Jamison and Davis have big contracts so does Varejao and some others. The only good player we have that has small contract is Hickson and Hickson isn't going there. You might get a 2nd but that's all trust us.
