I know things can be a bit slow in here during the offseason, but the draft luckily is shortly around the corner. Until then, here is some information on the development camp. It's always a fun thing to go to, wish I could go this year though.

The Capitals’ annual development camp will take place at Kettler Capitals Iceplex from July 11-16, the team announced Tuesday.

The week-long camp, which is open to the public, will conclude with a scrimmage and fan festival on July 16. Exact on-ice session schedules and list of players expected to attend will be released at a later time.

Next week, the Capitals will add to the group of young prospects they will evaluate this summer at the NHL draft in Minnesota. The draft takes place June 24-25 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, and I’ll be there to bring you the latest on the newest additions to the organization.

As things stand, the Capitals have five selections in the draft, with picks in the first round (26th overall) along with choices in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. Washington’s second- and third-round selections were traded away in deals for Joe Corvo in 2010 and Dennis Wideman in 2011, respectively.
