LOL at Big East new television deal

Reportedly, the offer from NBC would be for upwards of $23 million annually; less than two years ago, the Big East turned down a TV deal that would’ve paid the conference $130 million annually.
That deal means that the Big East teams would be getting half as much as they are currently making from their television deal. If they had agreed to that deal in 2011 they would be making 6 times as much as what they will be making under this new deal.

The Big East wrongly took the basketball schools for granted, and that killed them.

Its funny because Conference USA and Mountain West are both planning on doing a combined television contract likely with Fox that will get them more than this deal. The teams that left the Conference USA are likely gonna be making less money now than had they stayed in Conference USA and Mountain West.

The Big East is a real circus. They basically have no negotiating power since their BCS status and conference existence status is always up in the air.

Supposedly both Tulane and Central Florida are thinking about backing out of the Big East.

Former Big East members can join the ACC so that conference doesn't disappear when their best schools are added to the SEC, Big 10 and Big XII

Or as Frank the Tanks Slant said: If the big ten were so powerful they could grab virginia, UnC, etc. whenever they wanted why did they settle for maryland and rutgers?

They somehow think that Rutgers and Maryland add more value to their television deal. The reality is that both are really not even that relevant in their own markets as far as sports are concerned....

I read that it was because they want their network to be in more homes, they don't care about the ratings.

its more the new york and dc market, not the team themselves, they thinks adds value

Its just so they can sell a contract by saying we have x market and x market even those the teams in those markets get horrible ratings.
