Musical Projects: What Are You Working On?

If you sing, play an instrument, make beats, or otherwise create music in some way, this thread is a place to discuss what you're currently working on.

I'm finally getting serious about improving my piano skills, and I've been playing a lot lately. I still suck, but I can at least make it sound like I know what I'm doing. Nothing original yet, just covers...I have to re-learn how to read notation and get a copy of Finale from my friend before I can start writing anything.

    Recently learned:

    Radiohead - Pyramid Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbKQPqs-cqc)
    Thom Yorke - The Eraser/Analyse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moQ5jObcCMQ)

    Working on:

The Hush Sound - You Are The Moon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0yccAsWTOY)
Radiohead - Like Spinning Plates [live version] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfFtIcQlpQk)

I also really want to get the necessary equipment to start making some ambient/electronic music...but it's so expensive.

I am really getting into beatmaking more than ever. I am trying to master sampling, and as a matter of fact, I just ordered an MPD26. It should arrive within the next few days.

Props to Mane for the sig.

Currently working with my buddies band helping them lay down some tracks. I'm doing a majority of the recording and mixing for them atm. Pretty fun stuff.... reminds me of when my band was recording a few years back.

Me and a couple good friends have been jamming once a week for a few months now. We've got piano, guitar and I play bass. Just looking to have some fun and write some songs. We've written about 7 songs now.

What program do you use? Or do use a MPC?

I use FL Studio. I might purchase an MPC sometime down the line when I can actually afford one.

Yeah it's the best software out there, in my opinion. A lot of people like Logic or Reason, but I definitely prefer FL.

Do you sample? What's your strategy if you do? I like to go on whosampled.com to find out songs some of my favorite producers sampled, and then I just flip the samples a different way.

I used a program which allows me to cut a melody into specific loops ( each loop would be 1 sound). So that allows me to make a new melody.
