Who is the most overrated prospect in our system

At this point, looking at some of the idiotic feeback from posters on other boards. I'm going to go with Thomas. Thomas looked completely over matched in his first camp. He had a terrible start to last season in juniors. He showed little production in his AHL games. To me he is weak physically and mentally.

Last year I would've said Bourque, but now he's viewed as more of an AHL type with 4th line potential. I actually like what I saw of him at Traverse and think he may have some value as a fill-in type. I guess as far as top 10 prospects go it would be Thomas I agree, though he's strong enough and has a good enough shot to make it if he works hard. Underrated I'd say its any of Fogarty, Yogan, St. Croix or Andersson on D. To me Fogarty is a top 5 prospect ahead of even Yogan and St.Croix, just in terms of what he could become. Hrivik is another guy to watch, he's got a nice release and feel for the game.

Underrated would clearly be McIlrath IMO. I am still stunned at how stupid the majority of our fan base is on this guy. It's incredible.

I think alot of people are still thinking he's basically just an enforcer type but I was very impressed with his poise and puck moving ability in the Traverse thing last fall. He should only get better on that side, we know what he can do with the fists.

Exactly. They have no idea what they have in this guy. Bottom line is this team needs a guy like him who is going to level people like Malkin, Kovalchuk, ect.... when they come over the blue line. The defense as good as it is has no intimidation factor. He will bring this.

I hope you aren't seriously stupid enough to think Staal does this based off of 2 clips. Staal, once in a blue moon will throw a big hit. That's a far cry from being a Beuk type which he isn't. The poster above is a clear example 71 of the clown I was just pointing out who has no clue what McIlrath is. Staal is not a physical defenseman. Most of his defensive plays are made with the pokecheck.

Because Del Zotto leveled Neil do we now think he's a physical defenseman Faithful? I love when people are dumb and use one or two examples of something to make a point. Your Youtube clips are moronic. Staal is not feared by anybody as a physical defenseman. The hit on Crosby was a love tap. That's not even close to being a big hit. Neither was the one on Malkin. Learn the game dude.

There isn't a poster on this board who couldn't go on Youtube and find great goals from Anisimov or Dubinsky. Does that mean they are good offensive players? They aren't. There isn't a poster on this board who couldn't find one or two clips of Callahan throwing a big check. Does that mean Callahan is a feared checker? He isn't. Only somebody with little hockey knowledge would think Staal is a guy that levels forwards on a consistent basis. He isn't and he has no intimidation to his game. McIlrath's game is all about intimidation.

These are hits that intimidate. Learn the difference

Staal's never been a big hitter, its all about positional defending with him, especially since the concussion he's even less of it. No comparison to the hits a Beuk or a McIlrath would dish out.

Sadly, there are a lot of fans like Garden who aren't quite sure what they are watching when they look at a player. He's probably a great fan. He has no clue about Staal's game. That much is obvious. What was really annoying was how he put the icon with the hands over his eyes. He acted arrogant about Staal's game and couldn't be more wrong.

I think the word you're looking for is facepalm.

Just one thing though, why are you so angry and harsh? I mean you accuse people of being unintelligent and what not not but do you think that you your self sound all that wise through the content of your responses? Just sayin...

Agreed. Amg, you should tone it back a bit. I'm all for debate, but there's no need to denegrate people.

Right now I would say Thomas, I was a HUGE fan of his when we drafted him and who wouldn't be 54 goals and 99 points in the OHL? hell yeah, but he hasn't bulked up enough to be a force in the NHL, YET.

I don't think that Del Zotto is a physical defensemen and to be honest you literally have never had a post with a lucid thought or a cohesive sentence. I enjoy your trolling because it's funny and annoys most on the site but not me and if you think Staal isn't physical then you don't watch the games. Ovechkin said he was the toughest defensemen he faces because of his size reach and skating. Just an opinion and if you watched any of Macilrath's games this year he wasn't tremendously successful in terms of being the Beuk you're looking for. For the record as well I don't want Staal or any of my defensemen making hits like the one you posted which is a goon play simple as that. Everyone here all season *****ed about sloppy seconds hit on Sauer which boils down to a direct hit to the head similar to the one you posted. I don't want my defensemen to be tough because they're willing to injure someone that's not hockey. Intimidation is one thing but that's just ridiculous. Also as a side note Beuk looked a lot better than he was because he was playing with the best puck moving defensemen of the generation basically in Leetch. So relax with your aggresiveness and just have a conversation like the rest of us.

I'd like to have a reasonable conversation here but if anyone wants to argue with me that's fine but I will say I enjoy Mr. Mustgo's posts because they're funny and a good read.
