    Padres Offseason

Angels are trying to shop Trumbo around for pitching, this is a great opportunity for the Padres to improve!

Meh, not so much. Small ball and great pitching!

Pirates and Padres just pulled off a minor trade of Decker and Mikolas for Alex Dickerson. Now of course those two have just been recently DFA'd so as you'd expect your return isn't much but Dickerson is not a completely useless player. Dickerson was probably the Pirates best 1B prospect which honestly says more about the rest of the crop than him. Any value he does have is tied to his bat and he has hit ok in the minors but not what you would like to see from a college hitter with his pedigree (he won the Big 10 triple crown as a sophomore). He played mainly 1B in 2012 and primarily RF in 2013 so he has some versatility. He isn't great at either position but he isn't horrible either. In a lot of ways he is like a bigger version of Decker.

I agree, BUT we have excess in pitching and we could use a solid corner OF instead of just a platoon.. Maybin isn't cutting it, I'd rather see Venable/Denorfia platoon there, rather than seeing Maybin hit .190 all year.
