The Reds have signed Brent Clevlen, who is starting in center field for the Louisville Bats tonight. He was the #98 prospect in all of baseball just before the 2004 season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...levlbr01.shtml

    Reds Release Dallas Buck
By Zach Links [May 21, 2011 at 4:00pm CST]

The Reds have released right-hander Dallas Buck, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer (via Twitter). Buck never managed to impress while with the Reds organization and posted a 8.50 ERA with 5.2 K/9 and 5.0 BB/9 in eight Double-A starts this season.

The release of the 26-year-old means that there are no players remaining from the Adam Dunn deal with the Diamondbacks in 2008. The other two players in the deal are already elsewhere as Micah Owings returned to Arizona this offseason and Wilkin Castillo hooked on with the Braves.

Frazier down already, Carlos Fisher up.

The Reds optioned Todd Frazier back to Triple-A Louisville and recalled right-hander Carlos Fisher. The bullpen has thrown 10 2/3 innings the last two games.

Frazier stay may be the shortest ever — lasted four pitches.

•The Reds acquired righty Brandon Hynick from the White Sox. The White Sox obtained cash considerations in return for their prospect.

•The Reds also signed righty reliever Steven Jackson after the Dodgers released him, according to Eddy (on Twitter).

The Reds also obtained Brandon Hynick from the White Sox and Chris Mobley from the Rangers for future considerations. They're merely around to shore up the depth in Louisville. There's also a rumor that Jeremy Horst could be added to the 40-man roster following tonight's game.
Daryl Thompson is being optioned to Carolina and Jeremy Horst is being recalled from AAA to make his debut. Matt Klinker and Brandon Hynick are going to Louisville.

Here's a record of the day's minor moves...

•The Pirates announced that they acquired Steven Jackson from the Reds for a player to be named later. Jackson signed with the Dodgers in March then joined the Reds after Los Angeles released him in May. The 29-year-old played for the Pirates in 2009 and 2010, before they released him last November. He posted a 4.31 ERA with a 28K/28BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings for Pittsburgh in '09-'10, but posted a minor league ERA of 8.44 this year with 6.1 K/9 and 4.0 BB/9.
